How frostwolf7294 started their book cover journey
Chasing the Cheetah
Bella Shaw has been a lover of the written word since a child. She is a lover of all things shape-shifter, paranormal, horror, romance, and animals. When she's not writing, Bella can be found reading, horseback riding, hitting the outdoors, or hanging out in heat of the South!
"Chasing the Cheetah" is a shapeshifter based paranormal romance novella. The main heroine is an emotionally damaged cheetah shifter attempting to solve the mystery of who set her house on fire (with her in it). The main hero is a lion shifter and an Enforcer for the body of government that rules the shapeshifters. While working the arson case, they discover they are mates.
This would mainly appeal to females interested in paranormal / shifter based romance and urban fantasy; Ages 18-65 or so; Any location
What colors do you want to see in your design?
I'm looking for a cover that really screams "paranormal romance" to the reader. I do not have any specifics in mind as far as particular fonts or dimensions, other than the text should be able to be easily read even in a thumbnail. I would like the cheetah to be the animal related focus, if possible. My other character is a WHITE lion, but if his lion form is reflected on the cover, I would like it to be only a secondary focus. I love the idea of playing with "flame-type" designs/borders, as a fire is a main focus in my story. I love BOLD colors, but I don't want LOUD. Although I want you to have as much artistic license as possible, I'd really like to see tones of greens, purples, blues, or possibly even orange/ golds. I love covers that basically pick one (sometimes two) colors and only use the varying tones of that same color.
What to avoid
1. Please avoid any fonts that are overly "blocky" or "curly." It should be easily read at first glance. 2. If you incorporate flames in your design, please make them blend peacefully with the overall look (i.e., no typical red or orange flames) 3. I would prefer that no full faces of models are shown. I like covers where the male is featured from the neck down or so. 4. I prefer as little stock imagery as possible, as i want a totally unique cover. But show me what you've got either way!
Love how this appears to be a color-focused cover
I like the general layout of the text in relation to the images. Man has his back turned, his full face is not shown
This is just awesome in every way. I especially love that the lion takes up half the cover, and the man's face is not visible at all
