The book will be 6x9. The subject matter might seem quite “heavy going” and inaccessible, but it’s actually an entertaining and easy-to-understand read. We want the front cover to reflect this somehow – which means we wish to steer clear or dark/foreboding imagery and instead aim for something bright and bold. We’re also aware, however, that we can’t go too far in the opposite direction: this is an important book that provides valuable, insightful and actionable information to people who’ll benefit financially once they’ve read it. We need to make sure the book looks important and “must read”. Childish fonts and images will make the book appear too dumbed down and unimportant. We like front covers that make use of graphics and interesting (but readable) fonts. And we’re not against anything a bit abstract. We definitely DON’T want something really literal – like an image of a £5 note being stamped on or something! Note that this is a book targeted at a UK audience, where the currency is the pound sterling (£) – so if you do use a currency symbol (which we don’t necessarily want), make it £ rather than $. We also really wish to avoid the styles of front covers that seem to be used everywhere these days for financial/money-making books – partly because they’re overused, and partly because we find them really cringey!
