A successful blog full of inspiration for kids crafts, learning fun, family recipes, and creative parenting. Creating a book series for moms - to learn from fellow moms!
What's your vision?
My most popular parenting posts the blog have been in the "From the Mouths of Moms" series - in which I survey moms about how they handle specific parenting challenges and then compile their tips in direct quotes. (i.e. 17 Tips for Surviving the First Weeks with Your Newborn) I am kicking off a spin-off book series with the same "From the Mouths of Moms" title/theme. I need a cover designed for the first book in the series. TITLE: PREGNANCY, BIRTH, & NEWBORNS (doesn't have to have commas) SUBTITLE: FROM THE MOUTHS OF MOMS (above or below title, but stands out - it's what makes this book unique!) AUTHOR(S): Krissy Bonning-Gould & 20 Mom Friends The design for this cover will set the tone for the entire series. So, fonts, colors, and style will all need to be applicable to more books in the series - Such as "Tips for Parenting Toddlers - From the Mouths of Moms", and so on. Things I like: Bright colors (but not pinks or purples) - the color codes used on my blog are: Spring Green - 82C43D, Sky Blue - 53A8FE, Orange - F68A0C, Red - C62127 - You don't HAVE to use these colors. They can be a bit harsh for baby things, but I would love the book design to at least "go" with them. And be bright and cheerful and GENDER NEUTRAL. Bold fonts with lots of contrast. I tend to like mostly CAPS. Here is a link to stock photos/illustrations I've saved that I think could inspire cool designs. http://www.istockphoto.com/search/lightbox/22549069 LIKES: Gender Neutral. Diverse and/or ethnically neutral. DO NOT WANT: Mom sleeping with baby. Dads. Cliche images (hands in heart over belly, hands holding baby feet...). Baby looking unsafe. Baby looking uncomfortable. Faces/eyes looking right at the viewer. Pacifiers. Bottles. Feeding. Words/concepts related to the book/series: supportive, safe, talking, communication, learning from one another, in it together, we are all unique/diverse but share the common bond of motherhood The book will be sold in eBook format as well as through CreateSpace/Amazon as a 6X9" traditional book.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Book cover starts at $299.

And then… they selected a winner!
An incredible and very talented designer. Took instruction well and revised my covers as many times as I asked. I would definitely recommend this artist to anyone who needs a fantastic book cover made.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
