What's your vision?
This is beginners tutorial book about programming the Raspberry Pi (RPi) computer in Assembly Language. The RPi is a $25 home computer which was launched earlier this year (www.raspberrypi.org/). The RPi is aimed at all ages with a view to encourage a new generation of computer programmers. This book would be aimed at adults, young and old. The book will be part of a series and therefore I am seeking a design that will provide a recognizable brand across the series. The series will be called 'Hands On Guide'. The first three books will all cover Assembly Language and will be be: Beginners, Advanced and Reference. The book titles can be presented in a variety of ways. For example: Raspberry Pi Assembly Language, Beginners Hands On Guide Or, Raspberry Pi Assembly Language Beginners, Hands On Guide Or, Raspberry Pi Assembly Language Beginners All three books will be authored by Bruce Smith. I would expect the winner to produce future covers in the series, so this is can be viewed as a template I am happy to have an abstract design for the series of books that follows through. Maybe a change in one of the colours for each title? If the spines on all three tied in that would be neat. They might even be numbered 1, 2, and 3. I like bold, traditional type fonts with impact. I hate comic style fonts! I prefer 'clean' designs and the cover should stand off the Amazon page. The book will be published, probably through CreateSpace, so the cover must be suitable. It may also be published as an eBook and so a cover must work on Kindle etc. The Raspberry Pi logo could be used, although I am not fussed. I don’t see the need to have photo of the computer on the cover. I have attached images of these. There should be room for an ISBN on the back cover and normal blub. The website logo should be clearly visible: www.brucesmith.info The microprocessor on the RPi is an ARM chip - Advanced Risc Machine. There are a few books listed on Amazon for Raspberry Pi so might be worth looking at these. Google Assembly Language and Machine Code for information about the actual contents of the book. Book will be 6" x 9" - at moment I anticipate a 200 page extent. I have attached a sample Assembly Language program - lines 130 to 300 are typical of the mnemonics used. The final artwork will need to be supplied with correct spine with (to be advised on completion of book). It will need to be in a format acceptable by CreateSpace which I believe is 'Print-Ready PDF Cover'
I appreciate the tittle may be a bit long, so I am happy at looking at way to work around it. For example the Raspberry Pi element may be set smaller, and in combination with the logo, to reduce its overall size. Also the word ARM may be bought into it it if helps to balance the design, RPi ARM Assembly Languages for instance.
