Andy Singleton, a software development expert and CEO of Assembla.com, has written a book on techniques for releasing software faster and with better quality. We need a cover design for a printed version.
The book is called "Unblock: A Guide to the New Continuous Agile," and an online version can be viewed at: http://www.continuousagile.com/unblock/
The book is written for software developers, some of whom work in large corporations. Therefore we would like a book cover that says: "Innovative and exciting, but also professional."
The key concept here is "flow." The book shows how software development teams can create new features quickly and release them to customers very frequently (even daily, if the software is a web application). The book shows how to "unblock" the process; that is, to remove obstacles that cause interruptions and delays.
So the key image on the cover might be something flowing, either directly and smoothly, or perhaps around or over obstacles. For example: a fast-flowing river or stream, cars on a long highway, swimmers in lanes in a pool, runners on a track, fish leaping over obstacles to get upstream, fast-moving conveyor belts carrying boxes, etc.
The text on the cover would be limited to:
- The title: "Unblock! A Guide to the New Continuous Agile"
- A subtitle: "Principles and practices to help software development teams release more frequently and scale to large projects"
- The author's name and title: "Andy Singleton, CEO and Founder of Assembla, Inc. and ContinuousAgile.com"
The two words "Continuous Agile" in the title should be highlighted in some way. Agile methods are a hot topic in software development, and many people look for books on that subject. Our version of Agile is "Continuous Agile." It would be good if those two words stand out a bit so they are visible to people looking for a book about Agile.
On the back cover we will want a couple of short paragraphs of text. I will provide those by tomorrow.
The dimensions of the book will be 6" by 9"
