gry.kivle got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Book design needed for LATE: The 39-Year-Old Woman Who Wants to Play Annie
Check out gry.kivle's Book cover contest…
This book explores the idea that it’s never too late to pursue your childhood dream.
Women who grew up in the 80s with the (childhood) dream of becoming an artist: actor, dancer, singer, or performer.
Book cover type
The design for this book must reference pop culture from the 80s and trigger nostalgia and/or good memories from that time period. The book is based around my childhood dream to play Annie (the musical) so a reference to that musical would be wonderful. To make it personal, I've included a picture of me wearing a sweater with the Annie logo on. The design could include the picture, but you can modify or do anything with the image (delete the background noise, or add layers, perhaps make it into graphic art, or pretty much anything else). That file is attached as part of this brief. I also uploaded a few other pictures to choose from, but they do not have to be used. Paperback dimensions 5x8 and approximately 145 pages. I'm looking forward to seeing your creativity on this book cover. Thank you so much!

And then… they selected a winner!
Boja knew at a very early stage what I wanted for my book cover. I really liked all her ideas and really enjoyed working with her. Since I have a few more projects in the pipeline I might come back sooner than expected.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
