elisa.sX got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Book cover to bring historical fantasy classic to life

The Charwoman’s Shadow
The Charwoman's Shadow is a historical fantasy set in Spain with an almost rom-com feel to it at times (like a self-aware telenovela). It is a celebration of the small things in life, the power of literacy, a reminder that light and dark go together and a nostalgic love letter to wonder and magic.
This book is a must read for all fantasy lovers. It feels like a cross-generational story. Dunsany inspired the likes of Tolkien and Lovecraft. The Charwoman's Shadow clearly inspired the Sorcerer's apprentice (Fantasia).
This has to work for an audiobook format (square). I would like something simple and striking at first glance but with layers to it upon closer inspection. The title should be very clear (please see the book covers I attached for inspiration).
What to avoid
I would prefer to stay away from any pictures to keep with the simple theme.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
elisa.sX collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Fourth time working with Wonderburg, and fourth time extremely happy with work, even under 'strenous' client requirements! An absolute pleasure to work with and the quality is second to none.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
