The Blockchain Economy - A Primer
While working as a researcher in distributed systems, Dr. Christian Mayer found his love for teaching computer science students. To help students reach higher levels of Python success, he founded the programming education website Finxter.com. He’s the author of the popular programming book Python One-Liners (NoStarch 2020), coauthor of the Coffee Break Python series of self-published books, computer science enthusiast, freelancer, and owner of one of the top 10 largest Python blogs worldwide. His passions are writing, reading, and coding. But his greatest passion is to serve aspiring coders through Finxter and help them to boost their skills.
This book is not a technical introduction to Blockchain technology; there's plenty of freely accessible material on that. Instead, this book makes the case that Blockchains will have at least as much economic impact in the 21st century as corporations in the 20th century. The Blockchain Economy provides you different perspectives on the drastic potential of Blockchain technology to disrupt nearly every business or political system in existence today. Some of the ideas may appear evident to you; others may not yet. But in due time, many of them will be implemented in the real world by practitioners, programmers, and Blockchain architects. Myriads of new ideas and applications of Blockchain technology will see the light of the day. Due to the disruptive value proposition of providing permissionless, trusted, secure, and decentralized information management, these applications will create new blue oceans of opportunity, breaking out of the bloody red oceans of existing centralized financial infrastructures. In particular, you'll learn about the economic impact of Bitcoin, decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), censorship-resistance, governance, and many more key Blockchain concepts--and their impact on today's economy.
Readers interested in Blockchain technology. Mix of economic and technological audience.
Open for proposals. The book is a simple, easy-to-read, accessible introduction to the economics of Blockchain technology. It would be great to create an optimistic sense of a "better future" and hope, provided by the new economic opportunities (Bitcoin, Ethereum). Interesting book covers may include topics such as Bitcoin/Ethereum logos, people building a new economy, networks, technology, etc.
