Initially, I will be open to any ideas presented to me. There are four elements, however, that should be present. I have also included an image of a sketch that I created as a mock up of the cover.
Here are the four important elements:
One, because the story takes place on a plant called Magenta where everything is magenta color, the cover should ultimately be a magenta duotone or dominated by the color magenta. I am open to interpretations of magenta (from purple to maroon . . . whatever will look pleasing to the eye). Note that the Earth-woman character should remain in full color though.
Two, the first main character is the ruler of Magenta, and her name is Maerora Ma. She must appear to look Indian (South-East Asian) and between 40 and 45 years old. She also must be magenta-colored herself. I have included images of Indian women as examples. She also almost always wears a Mao-like suit, which has a significant set of symbols on the collar. You can probably google “Mao suit” to get a better idea.
Three, the second main character is a female, and her name is Captain Joan Jones. She should appear European-American and between 30 and 35 years old, and she is described as having blue eyes. I have also included example images of what she should look like. She should appear in full color on the cover.
Four, there’s a motif used throughout the story, which is a dying star. The star is described as huge because of its proximity to the planet, but it does not shine because it’s almost dead. However, it does have lines and cracks of luminosity on it.
My mock up example shows an outdoor scene. There’s one scene in the story that takes place in a meadow on Magenta where the two women become intimate for the first time. This might be a good scene to use for the cover. However, most scenes take place inside where the dying star is often seen through gigantic windows. It may be easier to create an indoor scene, so don’t be limited to the scene I show on the mock up.
One final point, the people on Magenta wear glasses that provide them access to an internet of things. We may want to show Maerora Ma with glasses.
The trim size is 5.25 x 8 (but if you know better about book cover design sizes, please advise. Thank you.)
Thank you very much in advance for all your efforts.
