Book description
The Appalachian Trail is an iconic 2,185 mile hiking trail from Georgia to Maine. Less than 25% of attempting hikers actually finish the 6 month endeavor. This book is designed to help anyone who is planning their "thru-hike" and increase their likelihood of completion. It is a comprehensive guide on everything from logistics and budgeting to mental preparation and technical gear guides. Note this is not a map or navigation guide - only for preparation. Despite being non-fiction, there are a lot of lighthearted personal accounts and tales in the book.

Anyone thinking about pursuing the hike. Some "thru-hiker" demographics: 99% American. 75% male and 25% female. Their age ranges all over the place. Most are in their early and mid 20's though. Most have a college degree. Somewhere between Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead guitarist/ hippie) and Bear Grylls (survivalist/ adventurer) is your average thru-hiker.
