A few weeks ago UC Irvine Extension partnered with 99designs to run a contest for its marketing website MarketingZot.com. For us, it wasn’t just an introduction to the word “zot” – a sound made by the tongue of an anteater and a popular chant heard at UC Irvine events – but also a first insight into a great marketing department with a keen eye for innovation.
MarketingZot solicited its readers to give feedback and choose the final winner of the contest. They received over 90 entries, with designers hailing from countries including India, Serbia, Italy, Croatia and Ukraine. A truly international crowd.

On November 21, at 10:30 AM (PST), UC Irvine Extension and 99designs will jointly present a webinar to discuss the process involved in the redesign of MarketingZot.com. 99designs’ Head of Product, Ashish Desai, will take part in the webinar, “What is crowdsourcing and why should marketers care?,” to explore how crowdsourced design can impact both marketers and graphic designers.
