As you know, Nepal was hit by a devastating 7.9 magnitude Earthquake on Saturday afternoon and is continuing to experience aftershocks up to a magnitude of 6.4. The death toll is approaching 5,000 with many more thousands injured.

In support of our 99designs Nepali community, we encourage you to donate to the relief efforts in Nepal through The Global Women’s Project. If you do, we will match your donation – dollar for dollar until we reach our total goal of $10,000.

Please note: We have now reached our donation-matching goal. Thank you so much for all of your support!

With your help, we can begin to rebuild this vibrant country and provide real support. Here is a breakdown of what your donation will provide for women and their families:

  • $5: Emergency access to clean water for 1 woman
  • $15: Tarps for temporary shelter for women and their families
  • $25: Warm blankets for women and their families
  • $50: Enough food to sustain a family for one week
  • $100: Emergency medical supplies (incl. sanitary pads, gauze, bandages and antibiotics) for women and their families
  • $200: Complete emergency assistance package containing clean water, emergency shelter, blankets, food and medical supplies for women and their families

All donations will be sent immediately to Nepal and – because they’re a fully volunteer-run organization – 100% of your money is going directly to vulnerable women and their families.

About The Global Women’s Project

The Global Women’s Project is an Australian-based non-profit organization that empowers women through vocational education and economic opportunities. Their Director, Briony Mackenzie, is in Kathmandu working tirelessly alongside partner organization, the Women’s Foundation of Nepal (WFN), to coordinate an emergency response.

WFN’s main office in Kathmandu is intact and together they’ve established temporary shelter to protect, feed and offer support to hundreds of women and their families who’ve been displaced by this disaster. As an organization, their focus is always on tailoring a response to meet the urgent needs of vulnerable women who are often disproportionately affected during natural disasters.

99designs’ donation-matching campaign has ended, but people can still donate to GWP here. Thank you for all of your support!

With your extremely generous contributions, The Global Women’s Project has been able to provide immediate assistance to over 25,000 Nepalis alongside their partner, the Women’s Foundation Nepal (WFN). To be able to support so many people in such a short space of time is pretty remarkable and we couldn’t have done it without you!
