Lending Club is an online financial community that brings together creditworthy borrowers and savvy investors so that both can benefit financially. We replace the high cost and complexity of bank lending with a faster, smarter way to borrow and invest. We have 2 core products: 1) Personal loans: Through Lending Club, applicants with good-to-excellent credit can borrow up to $35,000 to pay off high interest credit cards, complete a home improvement project, or finance a major purchase. 2) Investment Accounts (THIS CONTEST IS TO CREATE AN AD FOR THIS SPECIFIC PRODUCT): For as little as $25, investors can purchase part of a borrower loan (called a “Note”) to earn solid returns, experience low volatility, and receive monthly cash flow of principal and interest as borrowers repay their loans. As of June 11, 2012 Lending Club Notes have provided average Net Annualized Returns by grade between 5.81% and 13.54%. (Notes by Prospectus - www.prospectus.lc) The 3 product benefits of our Investing product that we always mention are: 1) Solid returns: Since our company’s founding in 2007, the average rate of return on investment accounts is about 9.6% (which blows away CDs, treasuries, and savings account rates) 2) Low volatility: Lending Club Notes have provided 19 consecutive quarters of steady, positive returns (based on our overall platform performance). This fact is great for investors that are tired of the roller-coaster fluctuations of the stock market. 3) Monthly cash flow: Investors receive monthly principal and interest payments as borrowers pay pack their loans.
What's your vision?
This project is to create ads targeted at INVESTORS who are already somewhat familiar with Lending Club from: a) Hearing about our company in the press or b) Have previously visited our website (www.lendingclub.com) Ad objective: To get prospective investors to click on ad and then complete our 2 page online registration process. Ad style and tone and don'ts: Style: - We are looking to attract higher net worth individuals looking for ways to diversify their investment holdings - Our ideal demographic is 35 years old or older, have a good knowledge-base about investing, with a net worth of $250,000 or higher - Sophisticated look/feel - Clean lines - Positive messaging - We strive to be very transparent with our investor customers. We provide them lots of information so that they can make their own investment decisions. Don’ts: - Unfortunately, due to regulatory and legal requirements, we cannot specifically compare our investment product with other investment products such as CDs, treasuries, bonds, stocks, stock indexes, etc. - For investor ads we have traditionally stayed away from images of people - We don’t want to over stress that Lending Club is “peer-to-peer (P2P)”… which has the potential to be associated with risk. Copy content: Headline • Get off the financial rollercoaster o Potential Idea: Would be amazing to see an animation where there is a line that is fluctuating wildly up and down (like a stock market index) with this tag line, and then the line begins to level off/down (if the tagline is still on screen) OR go steadily upwards (if associated with Lending Club) at a consistent 15-30 degree angle and you finish by introducing Lending Club and the supporting bullet content below. The idea is that with the regular market an investor experiences ups/downs and their portfolio might be suffering (negative association), but with Lending Club they can potentially earn solid returns without the usual market volatility (positive association).
