Objective: Create a design for an Indoor Soil-based Raised Planter Table with Lighting
Phase 1: A concept design for an innovative planter table with fluorescent or LED grow lights for indoor vegetable cultivation in soil.
The design direction should be light and modeled more on a card table with folding legs which is one of the staples for older people for whom this table is for.
Product dimensions: Planter Table top height approximately between 28 inches to 30 inches
Planter Table width 36 inches
Planter Table length 36 inches, 48 inches
Grow light supports
Collapsible or assembled on site
Materials should be light but sturdy
From the chosen concept, a computer aided design CAD file.
This plant cultivation system should be a free standing product primarily for indoor use, lightweight, portable, durable, utilitarian, non toxic, cost effective to manufacture, easy to warehouse, package, and ship without breakage. Aesthetically pleasing design is important since the product should be something you would want in your own living quarters. Mobility is a plus but not required. We do want a design that is not too complicated or expensive to manufacture.
Materials for construction should be safe to use with growing vegetative plants.
The product may be constructed of any material or combination of materials, wood,
balsa wood, bamboo, aluminum, plastic, plexiglass, cardboard, wood dowels, bamboo, stainless steel,
steel wire, braided steel cable, paper, styrofoam, fabric, pvc. All critical components must
withstand contact with water and soil.
Environmentally sound and recyclable construction is a plus but not required.
Product should be easy to set up and take down for storage in a compact space when not in use.
Product should be designed for use by senior citizens but appeal to all ages.
