Pure Earth was created to support the regeneration of the planet. We released a coffee cup made of Rice Husks in May 2020 and would now like to release a bee hotel to be ready for New Year 2021. https://pureearth.eco/ Our audience are eco-friendly and like doing their bit for the planet.

We would like a 'solitary' bee hotel designed for U.K. (Great Britain) bees. We need a design that can be produced ‘at scale’ so the product designer needs to have knowledge of woodworking equipment and the manufacturing process. The winning design will be something that combines good 'homely' looks, with quick and easy manufacture and assembly. Other requirements: - Made of native wood found in the U.K. - Zero (or as close to as possible) wood waste design - Can be hung or set on a flat surface - Holes must be of varied sizes to suit U.K. bees - between 6-10mm in diameter - Holes must be between 100-200mm deep - Must weigh no more than 1.5kg - Max dimensions: ≤ 45 x 34 x 26 cm We have provided more design considerations in the Messages to Designers section.
