Hi All, thanks for your feedback and all the entries. We eventually decided upon the winning design because it has a nice 'happy / bright / playful' feel and nice web 2.0 style. A very honorable mention goes to the other three designers Kimkiyaa, Namelok and Gaelian though, it was a very close comp and a HARD decision. Hope to see you all visiting the site in a few months when it's up and running!! www.fotochimp.com
omg lol this could be a sign that no one will gonna win . so the final decision would be "abandon" (just kidding!). hope its not. o well best luck to the top 4. happy holidays!
Well, it's really a matter of taste.
CH asked for an oppinion, I gave mine.
frankly I can't see how you can call Gaelian's cluttered and like Kimkayaa's , Interesting discussion though. very seldom does the Ch ask for opinions and its a good move so I'll say one other thing because I have encountered it in another contest.
There is NO WAY that white (or yellow) on bright orange, yellow or light green is a good usability move. I gather the Ch likes bright but is he really considering his visitors? there are millions of people both old and young with vision problems and it is NEVER a good idea to have colors that make reading a strain.
Oh, but I still think, mine is the best ;)
Personal oppinion? Here you go...
namelok: nice layout, uncluttered, but too bright.
Gaelian: too cluttered, it's got about 8 levels across the height, i see no connection between the logo and the rest of the colors.
neilparnham: nice layout, but maybe to glossy and to much elements used.
KimKayaa: maybe a bit too dark, with adjusting the free t-shirt box height to the others and changing the step stripes to orange my favourite.
But that's only my oppinion :)
I have no relationships with any designer personally but out of the four designs I would say Gaelian's is the best - clean and polished with strong design elements and balance. So often its a matter of taste but I think designers can agree on design elements and Gaelian's standsout on its merit where the others are a matter of arbitrary personal taste over even eliminated designs

Not sure you'll get much of a response from designers outside the contest. The contest disappears from the list once it ends so they would actually have to search to find it :P
