Congratulations to the winner
Ok, I get the idea that 99designs wants there to be some good discussion going on here, things like feed back and constructive criticism. As designers we have not been hired by, in this case, mobyQ. We are entering a contest. So there should be some good discussion going on here, not just between designers and the CH, but with all involved. Each contest, the feedback we get, should help improve the work we are doing. Or in the case of the Contest Holder, help them look at the design process hopefully from a better point a view. We just should be very careful how we word these things, if you are going to make a comment about someone's work, then try to give reasons for that comment, be constructive.
I think the comments towards your work mediagerm is based on the fact that it is heavily influenced by mint.com. Its more then just the color. The style and look of some of the text, the reflection of the logo and the grass along the bottom of the top part of the site is very similar to mint.com. The CH suggestion to change the grass to something else is a very good suggestion, and would help as far as helping the design not look like a copy of the mint site. And yes I know its different then the mint.com site, but those items do make most of us think of mint.com. I think the CH wants to have a nice clean look but still stand on its own. I guess my point is, not to get defensive about every comment made, but to think about why they were made so you have a better chance to improve. But I have to be honest, I am not sure I understand the dunkin donuts comment. There is grass on the mint site as well, not sure where dunkin donuts comes into it all. But I do like donuts. :)
Something else that would be nice if avoided is claims of being better then someone else. Those kinds of comments are not needed at all. Nothing wrong with thinking it, but the work done should be the only comment needed as far as that kind of thing goes. Well, of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, sometimes it really depends on who is looking. But I think everyone understands my point. We are all professionals here.
I see some negativity towards my submission through certain artists whom are from a less calibre background.
Please keep your negativity comments to your self as if there was any issue with the design the contest holder would have said so. everything is designed with perfection, colour pallete was taken from Kuler, colour lovers. Search for terms mint in the colour, the theme for the main body was pointed out by the client, which if you had read the brief and researched the clients service you would have seen that it is very common in the links that he provided.
So many great entries...we'll make a decision soon (maybe we shouldn't have ended the contest so close to the weekend ;-) )
Please , don't just disappear .. You have great entries
To Me "mediagerm" has done a great work, i appreciate it personally!
#8 taken a lot of inspiration from mint.com I see...
The contest holder has extended this contest to 3 days.
Just as I thought about mediagerm and grass.... https://www.dunkindonuts.com/
Working on a design to submit soon!
thanks for the eps file, very very helpful, will have a design up soon.
You can only open esp file with Adobe Illustrator . If you try to open it with Photoshop , you got error message
the logo files seems to be corrupt
Here's a link to download an .eps that contains our logo: http://www.mobyq.com/downloads/Prem…CS2_OL.eps It comes from our former designer.
