I don't know about that. I just read the brief very thoroughly.
Just wanted to say thanks to Richard. He's a great contest holder.. he's quick with feedback and payment, as I already recieved it a few minutes ago. :)
Interesting that you picked a design that won't exactly portray a professional image of your company for the money you offered. Oh well, it's your company!
thanks everyone for your efforts. this was initially going to be just a stopgap until we had time to create something ourselves, but the quality of work has made it into something we can pretty much use as is.
ive enjoyed working with you all and will most certainly be running several contests in future. i will be speaking with 99designs over the next couple of days about how i might make things a little fairer in future though, such as being able to award a first prize and a heap of other prizes. i feel bad only awarding one prize wen there has been so much effort demonstrated.
thanks for your efforts. youve made this a great contest.
richard
damn this is getting hard. the quality of entry is awesome. i hadnt really expected this. i thought i would be doing a lot of cleanup work, and am happy to see that this will probably not actually be the case.
sometimes i feel its harder being the contest holder though than it is being an entrant. its hard criticising work that i respect. ive been trying to be very straight with people, and to provide any and all feedback that comes to mind, in order to give everyone the best possible chance, but every now and then i cant help feeling like a dog hey.
this is highlighted by the most recent entry (the entry by dawson). i love it. its without doubt the best entry received so far. however i cant use it, and having to say that is harsh.
ive noticed a trend emerging within the entries to move a little away from the brief and a little more toward traditional web design. this obviously makes for better looking designs, as evidenced by the very cool dawson's entry, but it makes it harder for me in that i know that i wont be able to use it.
this is probably as much about me not being clear enough about what i want, as anything else, so i do apologise.
i am really trying to bring up anything i see, and i really hope that im not bringing anyone down. im loving the designs, im appreciative of the work, and id work with any of you given the chance.
richard.
ok. now its just getting hard to keep up with the feedback... :)
im working through it, but submissions are coming in faster than im responding to them. thanks for the interest all. youre doing a great job.
richard
hi all. im running on about 2 hours sleep today, following a week of about 3 hours sleep, so im not all here. at work with my previous employer trying to handover the last of it before i finish up (i resigned 4 weeks ago and am finishing up my notice period).
this means my feedback is a little delayed. i can see new revisions and new entries, and i apologise for not getting back to you straight away.
today is my last day and i finish up in about 5 hours, after which the new company will be my sole focus for a while.
bear with me. i will definitely provide feedback to each and every entry, as i am appreciative of anyone who has made the effort to enter.
richard
I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Post it early if you can (rough as you like) so that you do not have to spend too much work polishing it before receiving feedback. Maybe I can provide direction and make things a little easier for you.
I'm happy to provide further insight into what we are looking for and what we are thinking as we go...
Love contests like this. I'll be entering with the first page soon :)
forgot to mention that. ill add it to the brief now.
we do not need any pages coded, and are just looking for layered photoshop files. don't even worry about cleaning up your layers. 3 dyas is a short amount of time to produce something that is spot-on in terms of organisation.
the requirement for a layered photoshop file is simply that we can re-arrange elements where needed for final cleanup. were not looking for perfection, just a pretty hefty shortcut to a final site.
that being said, we may consider adding an paying an additional fee at a later date for cutting, but only after we have cleaned up and adapted the winning design.
do you want it coded, or just the mockup? thanks
