Design brief

Brief Overview

UniversityTutor.com is a growing tutoring site with 14,000 tutors all over the world (English speaking countries only).

I'm taking on big companies like Kaplan and Sylvan who keep 50% of what the tutor makes, and instead letting tutors and students find each other directly online. In this sense the site is a bit like 99designs but for tutoring!

I need your help to improve the design of the site, make it more professional, and bring it up to date.

Brand Name

UniversityTutor.com

Target Audience

Two categories:
1. Students & Parents
2. Tutors

Students & Parents are looking for help in school.
Tutors are looking to make money with tutoring jobs.

Note: there is a big geographic component to this site because the majority of students need to find a tutor who lives nearby so they can *meet in person*.

Key conversion for students & parents: *contacting a tutor*
Key conversion for tutors: *creating a tutor profile*

Note: students often first see the site from a landing page that comes up in Google (not the homepage).

Requirements

I'd like you to makeover the site to accomplish two things:
1. give it a professional, clean, web 2.0, fun look
2. improve the usability and stickiness of the site for first time visitors

You *don't* have to use just what's currently on a page and rearrange it. You can start from scratch and say "how should this page look in an ideal world given all the data I know they have on this site".

To get a feel for the site, you can check out some of these pages. You don't have to send PSD's for all of them - see where you think the biggest contribution can be made.

I like clean, simple, minimalist, bright, web 2.0 designs. Here are some examples I like:

the Pro themes on http://www.tumblr.com

http://okcupid.com
http://goincase.com
http://vimeo.com
gmail.com and most Google products

Final delivery should be a Layered PSD file. Thanks!!
