Design brief

Brief Overview

OpenPress is a printing service that aggregates orders to print openly licensed textbooks to drive down the cost of printing through volumes. We need an information website to market the concept and collect the contact details of people interested in using the service.

Brand Name

OpenPress

Target Audience

Schools, universities, colleges and other training institutes that use textbooks.

Requirements

We need a simple yet visually appealing, warm and inviting information website using our existing logo. A link to a wireframe that shows a view of all the functional elements required follows:

Link to our logo: http://bit.ly/blOLVH

The splash/branding area of the site must be bold and prominent. There should be clear buttons for: "How it works" and "Sign up".

mint.com is a very good example of the layout we want but we don't want a mint.com clone. Here is a slideshow of how OpenPress works to help you develop your concept: http://slidesha.re/bzpAYh

Consider using a friendly version of the chart in the branding area.

General guidelines

1. Simplicity is very important. Remove all unnecessary visual elements and be careful to distract the user with to much decoration.
2. Use big bold text or icons to get the users attention but only where appropriate.
3. Use strong warm colours to divide the page into clear sections and highlight important elements. Be careful to overdo this and use this effect sparingly.
4. The design must scale vertically.
5. Don't use stock images of shiny happy people, corporates in suits, people working on computers /laptops, grass and clouds.

The winner will be asked to provide us with PSD files of the design. Good luck and have fun!
