Hey everyone, we showed the customer all the designs thus far and the response was that they are all very dark - the black background colour is a concern. We are looking for a lighter overall background (white is the preference). Here are some sites to look at for design ideas:
http://enchantedlimo.com/ - this is kind of the idea of the white background theme we like
http://www.adobe.com/ - example of very clean web 2.0 elements - we think this could possibly be achieved with this MIB website design
http://www.limo.org/ - similar example of a more corporate look with a predominantly white background - although this example has too many things going on and looks too busy because of all the elements forced onto the homepage.
Thank you.

Toronto Skyline Pictures - unfortunately we do not have images to provide you - please do your best to source.
The Brief - yes, it might be a bit wordy but it really just outlines what we have already provided you in our mockup (http://meninblacklimo.com/newdesign…_ver_F.jpg)
In terms of the limo image being joined, we where hoping the image would provide the "wow" factor to draw the visitor into the site but you are free to use two different images to make a clear distinction between the two sides of the business.

Thank you,
Do you have any pictures of Toronto Skyline readily available - or do we source that ourselves.
I've read and re-read the brief a few times, and it does seem quite a large order to fill.
Major question ! does the image of the white and black limos *have to be* 'joined/merged' ? From the samples I've seen so far, they appear not to work... makes it look like an ad for a 'wrecking yard', (personal opinion of course :)
hmm, similarities..
consider this :D
Hi everyone, some further comments on the design direction.
We are worried that the designs are going in the too dark direction - the black background dominates the design - please try and inverse the colours so that we have black text on a white (lighter coloured) background or similar treatment. Some further advise:
1) Image for corporate background (Toronto Skyline) - we need the tip of the CN Tower to be clearly shown in behind the limo to clearly associate with Torontos skyline
2) Placement of both tag lines "It's not where you...." and "First Choice for Toronto Limo..." need to be included in your design
3) Tel#s very important on Homepage and on all other pages we need visitors to call for a quote this is the main goal of this site and must be included
4) Login link should be separated (more spacing) from the main navigation links perhaps use a different treatment and/or different colour to make it slightly stand out
5) Think of this homepage as a template to be used for the entire site all that will change is the main text area in the center of the page, and lastly
6) We would like to see someone try overlaying the Fun Stuff and Corporate test lists overtop of the main image as in our Mockup jpg (see Read Complete Brief)
Hope this helps.

Some further feedback about our instructions - they are our best attempt at "crystallizing" the customers vision for this website. We are not and our customer most certainly is not a website designer. To Randy's comment about there being "too many restrictions" I'd say that they are there to keep you guys within a range that will give you the best chance to win this contest. I've seen some absolutely amazing designs on other contests that were not picked as winners and all I can think of is that they veered too far away from the customers vision.
Having said this, our role as consultants is to advise MIB on what we think would best suit their goals. I would like to stress to Randy and all others that we will present to the customer ALL entries along with any notes you present us supporting your designs.
I trust you find this fair and invigorating enough to get your creative design juices flowing :-))
Thank you.

I'm sorry but I feel that there are too many restrictions and instructions, for me to deliver a design you would really appreciate. Hopefully you will find designers who are a bit more talented than I am (of which there are many here), and have the ability to work under your circumstances.
Good luck!
Randy
Hi
Don't give in yet, I have only just seen this as I have been on holidays, and will start on something tonight.
Hope to have something up in the next few days.
