You contradict yourself: how can a designer improve his skills if I copy-paste "thanks for your entry but it's not what we're looking for"?
Yes, it is a taste thing, you are right, but as I mentioned, I give feedback to designs that might have a chance to win the contest.
Congrats CoryTaylor!
MihaiM, what I meant by improving our designs was improving our entries for this specific contest. i.e your design. Hopefully even our skills but that's not the issue here. And if you don't like an entry doesn't mean the designer is a beginner. Different people have different tastes. You are not an expert jury in the field of design to judge if people are pros or beginners. You're just a client with own taste and opinion. And we respect you as you are. Feedback could be as little as typing one meaning, "thanks for your entry but it's not what we're looking for." then copy and paste..
Sorry for being critical. We have to deal with such issues on a regular basis here.
The CH has sent me a pm and asked me to declare a winner for him:
"I would like you to help me choose the winner of the contest (http://www.sitepoint.com/marketplace/contest/293 ) this person: CoryTaylor.
Thank you!"
I've had for example a logo contest and there were over 40 entries. That would be over 2 hours of comments on all of the logos.
By default it is "this is not what i am looking for", right?
i did not enter but
i think the designers deserve a feedback/comment, at least, for their entries no matter how bad or good it is. they have put time into it like every other designer.. at least a "this is not what i am looking for."
I only give feedback only to designs that I almost like and have chances to improve. I don't think it is efficient to give feedback to any unprofessional design. I am not even good at feedbacks, I only know what I like and what I don't. It is just like when you see a car or a lady on the street and you like it or not, you wouldn't have any arguments of why you like it or not.
You can improve your designs by attending a design class, not from Sitepoint marketplace, where usually trade stuff for money, right?
As I said before, I give feedback only to entries that might have a chance to win the contest, for small modifications.
Would you spend your time giving feedback to beginners?
I don't understand why you don't give feedback. How do we know how to improve our designs if you don't give feedback? You come and give a less-then-on-line feedback to the most recent entry and totally ignore the older ones.. I'm for sure going to spend my precious time on something else.
How can you be sure tomorrow you will be alive?
I won't abandon this contest, I need the design.
Hi, how can we be sure you're not going to abandon this contest?
ill post my entry asap.
Count me in ;)
Yes, the users will put there their own logo.
he said to leave it blank. So im guessing he has his own logo i put something there to get the full effect.
Does the panel has a name?
I'm working on something as week speak and you wont be disappointed. :)
Entry sent.
Thanks
