Design brief

Brief Summary

Nub2Pro is a new Gaming Website that will cover all the latest Gaming News and provide articles and guides for our visitors. We will have a different subdomain for each game that we cover, such as wow.nub2pro.com for our World of Warcraft section, aoc.nub2pro.com for our Age of Conan Section, and so on.

Brand Name

Nub2Pro

Description

What we want is a design that is very clean and user friendly for our World of Warcraft section. But we also want to use this design for other sections of our site in the future as well, so that means the body/template of the website should be ‘Generalized’ so it can be used for any game. The only place any WoW graphics should be seen is within the header and within the content, NOT in the template. I don’t mind getting a customized header made for every section but a customized design for every section would be too costly.

Wants
  • Sites We Like:

http://wow.curse.com/ – One of my favorite Web2.0 websites. This site will be very similar to Nub2Pro except we will be including more guides.

http://worldofraids.com/ - This is a site purchased by Curse and is another one of my favorites.

http://arenajunkies.com/ - Yet another site part of the Curse network.

You’ll notice they don’t make it cartoony or full of crazy graphics. The focus is on the content and putting everything in proper locations. Visitors don’t care to much about how the site looks, they care about the information. Their user experience is the most important thing for me. But if your site is looking a bit boring only use small graphics and details to give it some style!

There should be 2-3 ad locations. Ads should be placed towards the top (Above the fold) and near places where people’s eyes will mostly be focusing. Ad sizes are 728x90, 300x250, and 160x600.

  • Details:

    • A brief summary of the latest News, Articles, and Guides, should be placed in the main content area along with an image.  Many News sites don’t place the entire article on the front page. They place a summary of a few sentences with a “Show More” link below it which takes them to a different page. You may place a flash for the news like curse did and I’ll get that made by someone else.
    • There needs to a login box somewhere.
    • You’ll notice these sites have a lot of shortcut links around the site such as Recent Forum Posts, Hot Downloads, Hot Guides, Recent Blog Posts, etc. I like this idea and I want the following link sections around my site:
    • Headlines (Shows links to the latest gaming news)
    • Latest Guides (I like how worldofraids did their Guide links with an image next to it, and by the way, that’s a good idea of what I mean by using small graphics and details to give it style, also check out the Forum Threads above it and see how they use a chat bubble)
    • I want to put a small ad for Hiring Writers (Check out Curse.com and see how they made small ads to their other website Worldofraids and wowdb)
    • Forum (Latest Forum Posts)
    • Screenshot (Shows a randomly selected screenshot from the gallery).
    • The following links need to be placed for the navigation menu. News, Guides, Blogs, Forum, Gallery. There may be much more in the future so give it room to grow.
    • Optimize the site for 1024 resolution.
Don't Wants

I don't want anything to cartoony or full of colors and textures and graphics. This won't be an art contest.

I don't have a logo.
