Design brief

Brief Summary

I'm going to relaunch my existing site, to sell premium themes. Right now it only distributes free themes that are ported to Drupal by me.
There currently is no high quality drupal themes vendor, I want to build what "" is to Joomla (meaning the go-to site for superb themes).
This contest is for the first theme I'm going use as premium theme so it's crucial that it's high quality. The first theme is going to set the the standard for the rest of the themes.
There is a good chance that the winner and possibly the runners up are going to be offered the oppurtunity to design more themes. After all you don't really have a store if you got only one product.

p.s. I'm a busy drupal theme developer and I'm always in need of talented designers for client projects, so if you're good but you're not #1 you still might get some business out of this contest :).

!update! Im very sorry I had forgotten to upload my wireframe, here it is:…eframe.jpg

I purposely made a very sloppy wireframe because it is not to be used to jail your design in fixed blocks. Use it only as an indication of where to include content and blocks. I do need the regions that are indicated on the designs, including the blocks above and below content.

Brand Name

Desired Color Scheme
Just don't use a rainbow color scheme or something crazy like that
Desired Style
generic, modern
Accepted File Formats
Layered Formats (.psd or .tiff)

!Important! please cover your image uploads with a copyright pattern or something like that. generic themes are very sensitive to get ripped and I would hate to see my winning theme to be released by someone before I do.

Examples of the quality and style I'm looking for: ( I like this one best )
Guidelines Look and Feel:

-Template should be predominantly white
-must look good in multiple color schemes. Design will be integrated with Drupal's color picker. You do not need to design multiple color schemes for this contest.
-should be a general purpose template, design must be generic (not hinting to a specific business/niche).
-Design should have 1 main color and/or 1 supplement color for accents
-pay attention to detail (subttle shadows, pinstripes, etc.)
-I'm strongly commited to match the high quality of the designs at the example links provided
Specific elements that need to be present:

-ALL the blocks/sidebars drawn in the wireframe. (I guess it would be okay if you would design 2 sidebars on one side, as long as the theme still looks good when only 1 or even no sidebars are in use.
-Login Form
-search form
-Fontsize selecter
-Dropdown menus from the navigation tabs/bar. I forgot to draw a navigation bar in the wireframe, but look at the example links for guidance
-The submitted-by line in 3 forms, as per the mockup

-Layered psd file (layers must not be merged)
-Layer effects in psd file must be editable (is sometimes needed so that I can integrate with drupals color picker)
-When brushing shadows over a layer that contains a solid color or a colored gradient please keep the brusing on a transparent separate layer (again related to color picker)
-Full rights to design
-Be smart about your graphics, most elements in a CMS template are going to have text in them of different sizes. For example; A landscape background on a sidebar is not going to work because it will not look good when repeating it along the full (infinite) height that the sidebar might take on, on various websites.
Possible Design Augmentations (not obligatory):

-alternating the styling of subsequent sidebar blocks (odd/even styling)
-Differentiating the styling of left/right sidebar contents
-Hinting for clever use of animation in your design (javascript animation, not flash)
-footer as small widget instead simple bar
-moving search and login form to wherever you like
p.s. What I'm missing on 99designs is that my reputation on isn't visible. If anyone worries about my reputation as a firstposter here on 99 please not that I am a long-time member on sitepoint:
