It's getting very close to the end of this contest. I want to say thank you to everyone that has entered. Anyone else that is trying to submit, now is definitely the time to do so. Myself and a couple other decision makers will be reviewing the entries this evening and will announce the winner sometime tomorrow afternoon.

No worries, I was just saying all that because many people might not be aware of these issues as you pointed out and maybe they could find these comments helpful. Anyway, this is a contest so I don't want to make more off-topic comments, good luck everyone !

yes, i completely agree with you. oxylus. I know there was no need in posting two different versions, but it seemed to be the right thing to do at that time, it was just for the general variation :)

PureSoul - Please don't get me wrong but other than LCD-CRT differences there are tons of display difference between the same type of display, including completelly diferent off-the shelf tuning of the monitors between brands as well as custom tuning the owners do on their displays. Basically this means there can ba larger differences between two LCD screens than one LCD and one CRT. Basically there's no way of making sure the design maintains it's appearence for all visitors, therefore what you do is test on a couple monitors that are tuned differently and then fine-tune your coloring so that you make sure it's all displayed corectly on all monitors regardless of the color/brightness/contrast differences. Doing that allows you to have a design that's still great for at least 95% of the viewers and that's the best you can do, more than that would mean the other 5% would have to tune their monitor to a corect setting and that's not a viable solution. What can you do, use a selector for crt/tft as a splash page and then a calibration wizard before actually entering the site ? No website is worth that hassle in the visitors mind and colors are simply not that important for them, they're more interested in the content. The actual purpose of a design is geting a general look across and inspiring certain feelings in the mind of a customer, but that's not why they're visiting the site.

Anyway, I don't want to bore anyone with this, all I'm saying is that I don't think there's a point of making 2 designs, one for crt one for tft, no matter how you put it.

    Best regards,
    Octavian

PureSoul, If you can make the header look great without a car then yes, you do not have to use a car image. I'd be interested to see one without.

I already working on my design, will post soon. I have a question, is it required to have car image etc.. on header or is that optional?

In reply to oxylus, Feel free to work with something you have in mind. But we do emphasize that the company branding is very important.

We'd like to keep important elements placed where they are in the design (search & all navigation). Colors need to carry over to the new design, do they have to be exact, no but you should still be able to recognize who we are at a glance.

taco8412, We will be entering this contenst in a few days. Just a quick question, is it okay if we use a bit more eye candy to emphasize the core values you mentioned in the specs or do you want things to be kept simple and focused.

    Thank you.
