Hope you don't close the contest early; I'm reworking the design based on what you like.
Submissions are looking good, but a bit too "classical" and "clean" yet. Would be cool if we could have more live on the design. Here are examples of what I am talking about:
http://www.ohgizmo.com/ - very nice logo. communicates a sense of "coolness"
http://www.grantmx.com/ - I like the tape effect on this one
http://carsonified.com/ - nice overall design
