All the shortlisted contestants have been asked to provide a confidential link to their finished "valuelondon" oscommerce site for final confidential evaluation. The winner will be announced shortly. Thanks again to all the contestants.

    Hi mrpsycho98,
You are bragging without any justification. Check my detail page here which I submitted earlier. http://contests.sitepoint.com/conte…ies/259115 and it was quite different than yours. I only updated the detail page on feedback of client and yet it was still different than yours. I hope you get the point.

    Thanks.

    Hi mrpsycho98,

Everybody can see who copied whom, it's for contest holder to decide. I hope you understand it. Your main design can be called (excluding header & footer) nothing but the replica of my design.
    Thanks.

three more points that have arisen from the first entry. 1) the logo should be all lower case 2) all text should be colour navy 3) i would like the colour scheme to be white / navy if possible. see apple's white / gray and google's white / blue for ideas.
    keep up the good work.

I mean the google homepage html code, I am sure that the rest of their code is very technical!! :)

    just to clarify.
    1) we are <em>not<em> expecting the designer to change all of the html code of osCommerce to XHTML Strict. What we expect is that all code that is produced is based on modern principles, i.e. css for presentation and xhtml for content.
    2) we mentioned three websites as a guide. we do not expect or want the full functionality of these websites. what we like with these three websites is the look (i.e. white background, consistent text colour, focus on products), the feel and the ease of navigation etc. In fact if you look at the google source code I believe it is very minimalistic.

Just my two cents on this convo. I have coded a completely tableless design into osCommerce. I have taken out some of the tables in the original design and converted them to DIVs. If you know what your doing, its not a big deal really. I'm in on this contest. Thanks for the reply vlon, there hasn't been a layout yet that osCommerce can't sit into in my experience, I just prefer the layout to be what the client wants before I get to coding. Saves time in the long run :).

Just a simple note and wanna help here.

A lot of part of commerce is based on table and printed in the PHP files. So be careful with the design, complexity may bring the CH and yourself into trouble :).

^^ I couldn't agree more with the above poster,

To change the core code of oscommerce to be a compliant valid "less is more" approach is a formidable task.

I don't think there will be much interest in this contests, despite the larger than average prize.

And a note to all entrants, I hope you understand the amount of problematic work involved with this project.

vlon, you've mentioned in the design brief "coding has to be XHTML Strict". It's a tall order changing all the html code of osCommerce to XHTML Strict.
This requirement should be changed to atleast XHTML Transitional. I also sent you one pm.
