Congrats to Mrpsycho98! And thanks HostExchange for a very nice contest with great feedback! Makes designing just that much easier!
Apologies for going quite for a coupla days... been very busy! I'm pleased to announce the winner of the contest is mrpsycho98 #2. Congrats!
We had many entries and several very strong contenders. Particular standouts were nds and remco with entries that could easily have won, whilst roldanh, dinalsi and 8benny8 also submitted very strong entries.
But alas there can be only one winner and mrpsycho98 it is.
Thanks to everyone who entered... I'll have more coming up soon and look forward to seeing more great entries from you guys.
Thanks!
well im complaining because you basically allowed another persons idea to be copied. period.
I'm not a designer but I don't understand why people use boring old fonts like Verdana and Arial in graphical headings. It looks like only mrpsycho98 has used a really nice heading font.
C'mon people, arial/verdana is fine for body text, but really nice heading font selection is what separates the best from the rest!
Update - I think the leader at this point is mrpsycho98, with bearbrick also placing stongly, but there's still plenty of time and the door's wide open for a new entrant.
No-one likes a complainer. If your design looks the best you'll win the contest. Simple.
"Well yeah I guess it's pretty similar :) But hey you're welcome to re-submit and try to make yours better... or different."
Yeah create a different design and let everybody copy it again lol

This contest is still wide open and I'm yet to be completely sold. Look forward to seeing what else you can come up with!
wow! copied my idea lol
We have a new leader - dinalsi #1 is the first I'd be happy to go ahead with, and has set the standard.
Please refer to my feedback to that entry for tips if you're considering entering.
I'm in
Here's some clarification I sent in response to a PM from an entrant, that may be useful to other entrants...
===
1) The "Rotary Shares" emblem colours don't *have to* be used as the main colour scheme the way the "Lead the way" theme colours were used on the current site, but they can if you want to.
2) you don't have to use the blue/gold colour scheme, but I'd suggest it would be safest to base the design on EITHER the colours in the "Rotary Shares" theme OR the blue/gold colours used on the 2005 & 2006 sites (which come from the Rotary International "wheel" logo), or some combination of these.
I wouldn't recommend using completely different colours, stick with the Rotary International brand colours or the 2006-07 theme.
Hope that's clear enough. I know it's not *very* clear, as I do want to allow some creative freedom, and I'm more interested in finding a good DESIGNER rather than someone who just uses the right colours.
Best entry so far is from roldanh, BUT there's plenty of opportunity for improvement. See my feedback to entry roldanh #2 if you're considering entering.
I'm currently working on an entry to this contest.
I've just added to the brief. Please re-read it if you're preparing to enter.
Cheers!
Tom
Yes, cascading as in dropdown, like the current one (but better looking :) I don't really expect the dropdown menus to be fully coded, as I may want to choose the menu system to best fit my CMS, but I'll expect CSS styles for the main menu, and submenus, with colors, fonts, rollovers, etc. Whatever menu system I choose will be XHTML-compliant, using UL's to generate menus, eg UDM4.
