Congrats, Nadia!
well i meant if the CH uses a larger screen than 1024. at any rate, great design!
hey congratulations! yours was one of my favorites! i liked the photos you used and the fonts. a testing page for twitter designs is a good idea Nadia P. i kept switching my own site background to get a shot to post so i think if i do any more of these i'll set up a sample site too. the only thing i wish though is that the entire logo and at least most of L side of the design were visible at 1024 as many people use this setting still. when viewed at this size on my computer these things are covered up. i really couldn't see the logo/name etc at all. if the CH uses that screen size though it should look great to them and hopefully most people will be on the same size screen. too bad we can't just adjust twitter!
Thanks Arun and thanks to contest holder :-)
If anyone wants to see the twitter page I set up for testing the Real Adventures page, it's here for the time being: http://twitter.com/twitbackgroundz
This will be my twitter background testing playground
Congrats to the winner - nice design!
@debbi - you are right. It is fun to design for Twitter :)
Arun, that is a safe way to go and I just included hidden elements that appeared to the varying screen sizes so that's another possibility in the way of design. As the screen size increases, hidden elements show up and that way even if the same people change their screen sizes then they will see something new next time they log in! it's actually quite interesting to design for twitter!
May be creating backgrounds for 1024x768 is safer. The edges may be such that it scales well on a larger resolution. I did that on #37.
i guess i used the wrong word (screen resolution) but i think it made sense that i wanted to know what size screen the CH preferred and perhaps used themselves as i'm sure they would like to have it look good on their screens when they are on their own page and if it works for most of the other screen sizes then they are set to go without worry anyone won't see integral parts of the design message. twitter is hard to design for so everyone's efforts should be commended.
Lene's design is very nice I agree - but the left side width is nearly double what it should be :-)
Right side doesn't matter
Agreed, Edgy and Nadia... The way Twitter works currently, you only get *one* text color (for the sidebar AND the main column) and *one* link color (for the navigation at the top, sidebar AND the main column).
Some really nice entries did come in within the specs, though. I particularly like the ones from Edgy, Ugly, and Lene.
Thanks Edgy for backing me up - I don't think anyone paid any attention to the help I was trying to give out :-)
Just want to mark, that some of the designs here are not exactly by the standard of twitter .
Links in the sidebar could be the same color as the links in the main content... and also the background picture could NOT be centered - it's just not possible this solution to work in every resolution..
Hello! Wow- some great designs here. And thanks for including the feedback we offered... I will be reviewing these designs and will get back to you all shortly regarding our decision..
Thanks so much for all of your hard work.
Anna
PS: So yes, some of the submitted designs are way over the allotted space on the left, meaning that the twitter content area will be moved well over to the right and may be cut off on some screen sizes.
If you guys do a google search for 'twitter backgrounds', you'll find a few links on the best size to design for - resolution isn't tht important - it's the browser window size... you really only have a certain width on the left to include any relevant information and the right side you have a bit of playing room also, but it has to fade out to a selected background colour. Even if the info on the right is squeezed down depending on screen size, as long as the left content and the actual twitter area is visible all should be fine :-)
