iImagination, Thanks for the input. I will have to discuss this with our printer...

Wren123, I agree. Unfortunately, that just makes our decision that much more difficult. When there is just one standout design that would be easier. Thanks everyone for your hard work and creative designs.

I think you will find that 4 Colour Process printing will actually be cheaper to print than 4 Spot Colours. It is all to do with the make ready of the printing press.

    ... ;D

Also at the very gist of a certain design there are three "colors": Red, Blue, Yellow (plus black). Everything else that seems to be there is an illusion; it's just four color process. It wasn't the first to be subbed under 4CP, Contreras's entry is also 4CP.

And in the worst case scenario, said previously mentioned design can be reverted to four color spot (which it was in the first place). It won't be AS pretty, but it'll be just as sound design-wise.

We originally intended to have a four spot color label. One of the designers asked if we would consider a 4 process color label. If you take a look at my response above, I stated that for an "amazing" label, we would consider a 4cp label. This label would have to warrent the additional cost of printing 4cp. When we make our decision, we we consider both the design and the number of colors. The rules have't been broken, they have evolved...

I assumed there was a color limit and now I see rules can be broken, what gives?

We would consider using 4 process colors for an amazing label that incorporates 4cp. The USDA organic symbol can be black and white if it works better with the rest of the label.

Are the 4 PMS colors a given or can 4 process colors be used? (4 PMS colors is much more limiting). Also, does the USDA organic symbol have to retain the same colors? As is, it already uses 2 colors limiting the color seslection further unless used in b/w?

I will wait the entire 5 days before making a decision. I will NOT end the contest early.

Will you allow time for original illustration (i.e., I don't want to start on something hand-drawn if you're going to just pick before deadline)?

A note of clarification... The logo does NOT have to stay those same colors. You can change the colors of the logo if that works better with your label design.
