CloseDesign brief
t3n, the leading German print magazine for Web 2.0 and Open Source, is completely changing its cover artwork and wants you to be our art director! Our policy of openness makes us open enough to let you design the whole cover with a minimum of default requirements. Take the chance and add a German print magazine cover to your portfolio!
t3n
The cover story of the next issue will be something we would translate like „Agile & effective“ or „Getting Real“. Many articles in this issue will deal with this topic or are somehow connected to this cover story (e.g. Enterprise 2.0, Cloud Computing, Guerilla Usability-Testing, CSS-Frameworks). It's all about working smart, realicing projects fast and lean and beeing flexible.
The t3n magazine is the leading print magazine around Open Source and Web 2.0. It focusses on free software, web development, Web 2.0 and E-Commerce. It has a national distribution of 20.000 copies each issue with a target group of webworkers, freelancers, agencies, IT-Managers, designers, coders and geeks.
t3n for example reports about current developments in Semantic Web, Social Networks, Online Marketing, Web Frameworks like Ruby on Rails or Zend Framework, PHP, CSS, AJAX, informs comprehensively about free-of-license-fee content management systems and visualizes relevant open source projects and solutions for administrators and developers.
Although we are a German magazine, we have translated the text on the cover to make it easier for you to get in touch with the topics.
Resources:
- cover template, available in Adobe InDesign file format (.zipp 3,4 MB + .indd)
We are looking for a DINA4 (with 3mm bleed) InDesign file using the template provided. You can change and rearange nearly everything, except the logo. Elements like the barcode, the issue number, the prices and the subline under the logo can be freely designed and positioned by you aswell, as long as they are on the cover. In the bottom region, we would like to feature six topics with the name of the topic (e.g. „Cloud Computing“) and a short text. You can design that aswell as you like (horizontal, vertical). Also you should incorporate a pointer that indicates the CD ROM that is included with each issue.
It is possible to have certain parts of the cover UV lacquered!
Our in-house font is Myriad Pro (see attached zip for specific styles) but you're not necessarily bound to using it for your cover design (we also like fonts like Officina and others).
