CloseDesign brief
Smart Earth Technologies (SET) was conceived as part of the Green Technology movement striving to develop technologies that help municipalities and their residents monitor and control devices within their environment in order to create efficiencies and inspire resource conservation. We've created a cutting edge, open source, mesh network that can be leveraged for 2 way communication with many types of devices. Currently we are releasing our Total Water Management solution for water utilities allowing them to monitor and control all of the devices within their entire water distribution system from one GIS based application. We are 30-40 something experienced entrepreneurs with significant technology backgrounds with an eye toward creating revolutionary technologies.
Smart Earth Technologies
Right now our audience consists mainly of municipal and investor owned water utilities. The audience is quite varied, the larger utilities are sometimes comprised of tech and business saavy full time employees while some of the smaller utilities might have part time or even unpaid utility managers that aren't always aware of the newest technology, so we need to appeal to a wide variety of clients. Once installed our system will also be accessed by residents within the municipality.
We were initially inspired to use a pretty generic icon idea of a Globe with networking lines running across it to express the "Smart Earth" / smart grid idea. You can see that by viewing the attached logo.
We're not so sure the globe is the right approach and would like to see designs with and without the globe idea. Definitely open minded.
We also realize our name is quite long and have toyed with the idea of using SET, but feel like it might lose some of the concept of the full name. We would love to see some different ideas with and without the acronym.
In general we're hoping to communicate these ideas in a logo:
- smart
- solid
- concise
- cutting edge / progressive
- secure
- future / forward thinking
- technology
Some of our competitors are:
www.itron.com - their logo looks pretty dated to us
www.sensus.com - not a great logo
www.neptunetg.com - this is an alright logo
We will ultimately need sizes for:
- Web
- Print (biz cards, brochures, letterhead, large format banners for trade shows, etc..)
- Products - screen printing and/or raised lettering on our antennas, routers and gateways in the field. These devices are about the size of a box of tea or a saucer (don't know why I've got tea analogies in my head!).
We'll also need both vertical and horizontal orientations as well as inversions. black on white, white on black.
Looking forward to seeing your ideas!!
