    I promised a list of possible ideas including the original ones mentioned in the brief, ( not suggesting all of these would work!);
    Table bell, concierge lapel badge, Brass desk sign. Concierge uniform, encorporating Top hat, Red Tails, Lapels, white gloves. concierge colours are red or black with gold trim, or also dark green with black trim, Brass bell luggage trolley, Silver tray, Front desk.

    hope this helps..

    Thanks for the response, I didn't actually say that the execution is ALL that counts. Good ideas are an essential part of the design, but a great idea, poorly executed is unusable in my view. I think it is bordering on rediculous for designers not to be able to use mechanisms because other designers have used them before ( that would at least discount 3 of the current designs!)

    Having said that your point is taken and I would definately not want to be seen to encourage other designers to copy other peoples ideas, thats really is not the point.

    I will post a list of mechanisms that I think could be used, if it stimulates further ideas, all the better.

    Please post your new concept it would be welcomed....

    You are right, there are only a few ways to graphically represent the concierge idea and you listed a few of them in the contest brief.

    The concept I came up with did not use any of the elements you had been listing in the brief... it simply depicted my idea of a concierge (pretty badly actually since it to you it looked like a bell boy). This is far from a great idea, I admit it, and quite frankly I'm not excessively proud of it. My sarcastic comment towards Ipski certainly wasn't necessary in this case and I apologize for it. Past experiences in other contest certainly did make me respond more strongly than necessary.

    Anyways, regarding your last comment, I would like you to clear up something for me Hoobamac.

    Keep in mind that I'm no "whiz kid" and I usually come up with concepts that are pretty straight forward and directly relate to the company I design a logo for.
    I have been working on another concept for this contest, which this time is a little more elaborate. But I'm not sure I'll post it right now since you said yourself that graphic execution is all that counts. Anyone seing my new concept will definitely find it to be an easy way to convey what your company is about and it isn't using anything out of the ordinary that other people could not think of. But the association of ideas make this my idea, which is unique so far as I haven't seen anyone posting work that remotely looks like what I started working on. Can I post it safely to the contest without fear of having you encouraging other contestants about copying it and pushing it graphically to the next level? If not, then I'll just wait another 13 days 2 hours and 14 minutes before to post it.

    By the way, this is a very good idea. I really think you should list all the "mechanisms" that are able to convey concierge in the brief. There are many designers around here that won't use some elements or ideas in a contest if they are already used by other contestants. Plus, as you said, it will stop or prevent the bickering.

    I am very aware there are only going to be a few mechanisms that convey 'concierge' - and you don't have to be a whiz kid to figure out what they are! ( I could list them all for you if it would stop the bickering!) it is the execution of the design that counts...

    A concierge is normally associated with hotels and provides the complete service for guests, arranging all aspects of the guests stay in the hotel. They simply call the concierge and they sort it out for them. This new service offering provides a complete online service for customers for a single monthly fee. The company that provides it is Digital Forest ( www.digitalforest.co.uk ), who specialise in web application development.
