Design brief

Brief Summary

We want to create a new logo for our company. We're going to trademark it so it needs to be original. It has to be line art, one color so it can be embroidered or stenciled onto lots of things. It has to contain our name. It has to be exceptionally awesome. Awesomeness is really the key to our whole company, and our logo has to express that.

Brand Name

GivePlay

Description

We are filing trademarks and we need a new logo that is as awesome as possible, and that's original enough to trademark.

Our company makes video games--primarily for people to play on the web. A web 2.0 looking logo is one possibility. We want something cute and original!

Since the logo has to have our name "GivePlay" in it, the lettering or font is one area where you could be creative. But we are open to any original idea you have.

Here is our old logo: Click here

Special note: The winner and two top runners up will also get some awesome schwag with our new logo on it! We will send you either a t-shirt, mug, jacket, etc (our choice) as soon as we get them printed up. Be warned: If you win this contest, your popularity may increase more than you can handle. You may want to read some self-help books on how deal with your new level of coolness.

Wants
  • It needs to be line art (one color) so that it can be embroidered or stenciled onto things. Creative color is fine, but just one solid color.
  • It needs to be trademarkable (not easily confused with another video game company logo). Our trademark attorney may have a say in picking the winner from the finalists, so do a tiny bit of research on the web before you give us the Activision logo in a different color. We want you to win!
  • It has to contain our name, "GivePlay"
  • We need to know what fonts you use, if you use any. You could draw the letters yourself, of course. If you were truly hardcore you could make your own graphics tablet from parts and then use that to draw the letters.
  • The logo you create for us needs to be your own work, unencumbered and royalty free--if you win, you must be able to grant us full and exclusive rights to use it forever. No cribbing!
  • For the finished product we need a hi-res PSD or (even better) Adobe Illustrator File. But who doesn't?
Don't Wants
  • Our old logo is cool, but it is a little too complex. And some people think the kid looks like a monkey. I think the kid is awesome.
  • Our old logo has a kid playing a game controller, but we make games mostly for people to play on the web or on their phone. So the controller gives the wrong idea. Make it abstract, or make it applicable to web games or making games.
  • No halftoning! Any gradients or extremely fine lines will make it difficult to print our logo on things.
  • Don't forget to put our name, "GivePlay" in the logo. Otherwise we can't even consider it.
  • Since we're showing you our old logo, don't just copy it. Do something new, please! Let the style of our old logo inspire you, but give us something new.
  • Don't use comic sans or times. Even if the voices tell you to. We already have those fonts and we tried that.
