Need a fresh logo for group of preteens in our community

We are launching a new ministry group in our church targeting 5th & 6th graders. We have decided on the name of UpLink. We have few preconceptions. We may choose to use the name as an acronym or the separate words UP and LINK in catch phrases. The definintion is "transmission to a satelite or space ship." We are not confined to that imagery. We need something that will last a while.
- Catchy to young teens and older children grades 4-6
- something that interfaces with the colors in our spacewould be nice (the colors are black, silver, gray, some gold and red)
- longevity with branding this group.
- Churchy...no doves, crosses, or religous symbols please
