Congrats Patrick!!!!!!!
Good Luck Tweak 3D on your business.
It was fun designing for you.
thanks :)
Really Nice Design Congrats! Patrick
Once again I want to thank everyone for this contest. We had 134 submissions, far more than we imagined we could. I hate to leave anyone empty handed but the goal was to pick one single logo here that we liked the most, so we must do just that!
You should all be VERY proud of the logos you've made. Most are exceptional, and well beyond those I see in most of the sitepoint.com contests.
Pizza?!?!? What no Monkey bread???
Hi, I'm sorry I haven't been able to make the changes I promised. Had to go out of town urgently. Just want to keep you in the loop.. Thanks. :)
Will be back by tomorrow, most probably.
We're pretty well into this contest and many of the designs are coming along nicely. I thought it would be a good time to say what our favorites are to give direction to new submissions and let others know if the directions they're taking are the right ones. If your name is not on this list, please don't take it to mean we don't like your design. The problem is that we can only pick ONE and that's tough considering the collection here. Read the comments on those submissions and particularly note the changes we suggested that they made on the first two and the overall style and themes of each. If you would like to know what to shoot for our final choice on a site logo, this may help you out.
Our favorites in no particular order:
patricK~ #4
demonhale #9
mudeth #1
GraphtySolutions #1
The main reason for these logos being our favorites isn't necessarily that they are the closest to ready or the most refined. It's that they captured the essence of the site best and offered a unique flare that some of the logos may have missed. Please PM me with specific questions or comment here.
Thanks again,
I wish I could buy you each a pizza and beer for all the efforts. :)

I'm having way tooooo much fun with this!!!
... also, as mentioned in the original description we'll need Adobe EPS or PSD for layers so we can easily make tweaks to the color for different themes so be sure you're working with layers and (ideally) vectors.
Well guys we're a few days in and I'm very impressed with the entries so far -- picking a winner is going to be tough and I imagine we'll have much better ones before the contest is over. I can't believe how many great designers are here... There are a few others that I like and several that are coming along nicely. There are a few I don't care too much for, so I think I'll explain a few more things as an update to hopefully steer people in the right direction. If you feel you're on the right track please ignore all this, but if you're scratching your head wondering "Why this dude's so indecisive", here's my mind poured out into a comment:
-Logo shape/size-
Since we'll be using this logo for pretty much everything on the site, we really want the proportions to be wider than taller or 1:1, but not taller than wider if that makes sense. I know it's hard because we demanded a lot from the various posts.
-Mascot Stuff-
The images I posted were just of some styles I thought looked okay to give an idea of what style we want for a mascot (or don't want: happy/kiddy monkey). We don't want the actual images posted above as part of the logo for copyright and originality reasons. If you aren't comfortable drawing a monkey from scratch or at least mostly from scratch, we'd rather have you focus your time on the design of the text and background. The monkey should probably be brown or grey to offset the overwhelming blues in the logo. The monkey seems to look best if he's on top of the logo from the submissions so far.
-Themes-
Good themes to consider for icons or style of text/images: wrenches, screws, screwdrivers, computers, fans, heatsinks, motherboards, circuitry, turbochargers, gauges (meters or boost gauges, something indicating PERFORMANCE)
-Backgrounds-
Most the logos so far have interesting and well picked fonts, but only a few logos submitted so far have a background. I'd suggest that if your font seems a little plain you might want to consider a background based on some of the themes mentioned above to spice it up.
Don't be afraid to Private Message me or comment here if you have concerns before you spend time making a logo that might be rejected. The last thing I'd want you to do is waste your time heading the wrong direction.
Thanks again, I'm having a lot of fun with this and I hope I'm not driving anyone crazy with my lengthy rambling comments. :)

Nope, as I stated in the full contest details, the mascot is definitely not a necessity. I just wrote t might help -- we've never had the mascot in the logo and think it might be cool if done well. If the logo is nice without we're okay with that, too.
A lot of instructios tweakmonkey, That's indeed very good. But I got one last question.. is the mascot an absolute necessity?
