Hi makemeadesign. IMHO I think it'd be best for you to decide first on a logo or set of logos that you'd find suitable for various applications, given that I think, product identity comes first before considering the rest of the marketing collaterals. All the other stuffs would then have to evolve around the chosen identity.

A general question to designers: I need this logo to be used on the packaging for cables that we will be selling, as well as on our website. How the logo looks on the packaging is quite important and affects my decision of which logo to choose. so do I make the decision on which logo I like and then create another contest for making packaging using that logo (not my preferred choice, as this would be a very simple contest). Or do I ask designers to create a design of the packaging as well as their existing design so I can see how it looks. I would increase the prize money for the extra work as well as eliminate all designs that I do not want to participate in this. I am very new to 99designs, what should I do?

there are so many good designs, I am really impressed, and choosing the winning design is going to be difficult. Probably one thing that many designers haven't taken into consideration is how the logo will look and fit once printed along the top of the packaging. The packaging will have a solid background colour (like a blue for example) as that seems to be the most common colour used in the desgns here. And the logo/brand need to be in white or some other colour in the foreground. This is how most of that packaging works. I think it is best to keep the packaging to 2 colours so it would be good to get a design that will look good in 2 colours and even if the logo is white with a coloured logo, it needs to be able to look good inverted as well and in 2 colours.

i like where a cable has been used in the logo, this is good if it can be done with the logo still looking good. Including "Lifetime Guarantee!" in the logo is a good idea... I want that instead of the other slogan i mentioned in the design brief.
