that's kind of a burn changing the prize on people.
I dunno. I didn't enter, so that has nothing to do with me.
Has anyone heard from the CH about payment???
Thanks to everyone again. We really want to use additional designs for t-shirts and other future promotional considerations so we will be contacting those designers directly.
1st place #290 ($200)
2nd place #166 ($75)
3rd place #202 ($50)
4th place #139/198 ($25)
5th place #180 (No Cash Prize)
Honorable Mention #194 (No Cash Prize)
To claim your prize, we need you to email us your name and address as well as the vector files and .psd file of your designs. We will also need you to sign a standard waiver that says we're allowed to use your design.
Thanks again to all who submitted. We really do want to use more than just these designs in the future and will be contacting some of you directly.
The 533
Which designs won the remaining awards?
So many good ones!!
so tough to pick a winner....
Great work everybody. This contest went nuts.
if we were in the porn industry we'd have to move to Burbank, and nobody wants that.
lol yeah. it would be a great logo if they ever decide to get involved in the porn industry.
and is #234 what I think it is?
and thanks for answering the question 533 and I wonder A. how many actual working designers we have on here and B. how many are students. To 533 do you guys have any portfolio up or anything I'd be interested to see some of your work I do a bit of video production myself you know motion, final cut studio, after effects and that shabang. good site you may like .Also any thoughts on #233 #218 #215?
http://translate.google.com/transla…ls%3Den-us
I think in #210 there might be some copyright issues especially with a historic hotel in downtown LA. It could maybe be used as an ad gimmick or something but using it as a new logo might not work. Just a thought, but what do I know.haha
I'd prefer to trade use of the space over cash. would you consider that as an option?
somehow I knew if I aired my opinion I would be wrong. So for that I appologize tho the CH. Unfortuately I assumed when I should have inquired and I took my bad day out on you. Again, sorry.
dd thanks for the responce, I understand now.
Just to be clear chandlerhouse -- think you got here a bit late. Originally we had one $200 winner, a prize pool of $200. Since we liked so many of the designs, we thought we would add an additional $150 of prize money, so now it's at $350 -- we never took away the 1st place winner's money, just added more.
I'm not sure if you think we're a huge company, we're not. $350 is a lot of money to us. To answer Pulchritude's question, designers are eligible to win more than 1 prize, so if anything the hard work people put in to win the $200 originally now is hedged a bit by the possibility of winning 2nd, 3rd or 4th place money.
We aren't trying to take advantage of anyone which why I specifically said in the UPDATE: "If for some reason you do not want your designs to be considered for other prizes, please let us know by personal message or comment on your design page!" That was to be clear that if you don't want to essentially sell your design for less than $200, you don't have to.
We respect starving artists because we are starving artists.
A big thank you again to everyone who has been working tirelessly to design The 533's first ever log.
chandlerhouse, you have a point, but at the same time, some of the cheaper jobs is what opens doors for the higher-paying jobs in the future. you won't get rich off of this website. at best, what you'll get are some portfolio pieces for the real work which pays real money. major reason i joined this website is because i need portfolio pieces for when i go hunting for a full time job when i'm done with school. sure it would be nice to get paid for every project entered on here, and at a real-world price, but let's face it - most of the people here are not professionals, and do it simply as a hobby. that's why the pricing isn't as high as some would like.
to twinserpentmafia: ok.....I understand that, and believe me, so do most of these CH!!!!!!!!!
I just can't believe a CH would pull such a trick and all you talented people would stand for it.
Whoever wins the first place just lost almost half of their winnings.
Why?? Why not keep the prize as is and award new prizes for additional designs. The whole thing seems unprofessional.
