Just curious to see if this contest is open or closed?
I just received an e-mail stating it was back open.
^^ u better; i will be frank and honest; you handled this contest terribly. maybe if you had looked at how others were doing it, this would have been done better? as they say first impressions count and some people (including i)might think twice before entering your future contests.
I have provided feedback to the provisional winner. I'm waiting to receive their feedback before declaring them the winner. I understand and appreciate all the criticism against me. This was my first contest; I simply got overwhelmed by the submissions. I will make sure to apply the lessons learned here to any future contests I post.

That idea sounds awesome, I just hope it doesn't scare away potential contest holders...people hate putting money down...but then again, only the fakes would be afraid to usually.
There is a simple solution to all of the abandoned contest situations, and I sure hope it's what this new "plan" is going to be with the new contest section.. Have the contest holders pay the entire prize money upfront to Sitepoint and have them agree to specific terms stating a winner must be selected. If a winner is not selected within, say, seven days of the contest's end then Sitepoint will select a winner. This would work wonders, since I still have bookmarks in my "Contests" folder under my bookmarks of all contests I participated in and no winner has yet been selected and want them gone to make more room..
