Apologies to the CH, I wasn't around much yesterday either because my arms are shot (painful muscle problems), but I should get something in in the next couple of days. :)

Yes I do realize that tracing a photograph is not the way to go, I did for the 13 paces logo, I did trace it by the way, as I was looking for a perfect silloutte that did not have the out of porportion body parts that at the time my own artwork did, I was also very new to design at that time....it was the only time I did it , with the exception of tracing the outline of a car one other time....since then I have learned a lot more about design and finaly learned how to use illustrator properly......besides as we both know I did not get paid for that design and my concept was used in the creation of his new logo...

I only pulled out of this contest becuase I realized my illustration was not up to par with the quality of others, I could have kept pushing myself to actually do a sketch and scan it in and work from there put my scanner printer is currently also being used as a shelf.....and I have a hyper two year old that likes to chew on my pencils....so I decided to withdraw and move on........

I simply wanted to say that everyone is following the description the ch laid out....and in all cases there will be simularities....this thread just seem to be going out of whack....

And man, there's just...wow. I have no words at this point.

Also, I don't understand, Senjula...why'd you withdraw? No one was pickin' on you, as far as I could read/see.

LOL visio, I don't think we're the same person. While I agree with JReam re: Patrick's talent as a cartoonist, I have to say that I choose my letterwork much differently (you will never find me using Comic Sans/any closely related font to, either!). Besides, if I really wanted to create a huge uproar, arguing with myself isn't the way I'd go about it. :P~

Fingerpointing doesn't usually happen as bad as this, but this case been building up and no one's said anything about it until now. Heck, I would've said something about it even if I wasn't the one being ripped because enough's enough.

And finally Senjula, you probably wouldn't be saying what you're saying if -you- were the one being ripped off. Has anyone ever ripped your concepts from you? Do you know what ripping and "illegal" borrowing mean? Did you know that taking a photograph that doesn't belong to you and Photoshopping it into a logo design is also against the rules, right? That's a form of ripping, too. Not at all saying that this is the case here in this contest (it definitely is not the case, obviously...no photos or tracings in this one), but I have definitely seen it happen.

I hope the contest holder isn't afraid to host another contest here again, these things don't usually break out lol :P

this is silly....the brief and later comment by the ch stated
-a board on a post...
-holding a sign
-with big eyes....no matter who you are there is only so much you can do with it....and everyone is doing there own interpitation...there is no copying when someone follows the brief which is what is being done....the ch did not ask for any object secured to the ground in any fashion holding some kind of messaging item....possibly with over exaggerated facial features....they where very point specific...

Sorry pcarlson I am not saying you are a rip off, I've seen your original work and you are a very talented artist nobody denies that, but I mentioned above because I saw two almost identical designs (In my opinion). Creative Minds may think alike - and I know the brief gives a description and I don't accuse you of not following, I think we all appreciate honor among designers and why this seems sensitive as you both took time to make designs and possibly noticed it wasn't worth tossing out after the time invested :) okay rant over. !@

It's truly amazing how in a contest, where the instructions are pretty specific of what the CH wants, I am being accused of copying ideas. The truth is I NEVER looked at any entry before creating mine. I go straight to the contest brief. You who are accusing me DO NOT KNOW ME and DO NOT KNOW HOW I WORK yet seem to know a lot more than I do about where I get my ideas. I DID NOT, AND HAVE NOT, COPIED ANY IDEAS....IN ANY CONTEST. I follow the CH requests...THAT IS THE TRUTH! I sit at my desk and create JUST LIKE YOU...and, God forbid, there are some similarities between ideas. The response during this contest and the arrogance of certain individuals has sickened me. I DID NOTHING WRONG, regardless of any similarities between designs. And why Tropicandrew would think I would study his designs for ideas is absolutely ridiculous! There are plenty of similarities between most of the designs in this contest. I DID NOT COPY ANYONES IDEAS!
