Ditto!
thank you :)
Congrats Kinky!
We have a winner! Thank you all for your contributions and work. While there were plenty of entries submitted, we felt that only 2 or 3 entries were in the direction we were looking for. Many entries seemed to play off of one another, however the one winner has a definate professionalism, seriousness, and originality that we were hoping for. We did find that many submitted entries did not follow the hints and guidelines that we posted in the contest description (such as leaving the text alone and focusing on the graphics, or making sure the logo was serious/business as opposed to playful).
We chose to end the contest 1 day early because 1) we did not see much improvement (to our taste, not that new entries were 'wrong') of submissions beyond the first few days of the contest and did not want to have you continue efforts that had no chance of winning, and 2) we had a clear winner over the past week that we really like.
I wish you all well in your future entries and hope that you learned some tips from each other, as we did from you too. Thanks again,
Mike
CH: I will try meshing on your old logo and post an entry soon.
Tip: If you are fluent in Meshing (using the Mesh Tool in Adobe Illustrator), you might want to try taking our existing logo (http://hnatt.com/temp/oldlogo.zip ) and making it 3D, then changing some curves. Just an idea.
The mouse is away from the primary logo as a secondary balance object when we use the product name and tag. The mouse will not be used when the product logo is in things like icons, some marketing materials, etc. where we won't use the product and tagline text.
The rabbit is holding the trophy as a trophy/rabbit has been our brand recognition for almost 15 years. Our software reall does not have anything to do with a rabbit, but this was something that stuck years ago and is now associated with our product.
why is there a rabbit holding a cup, and a mouse away from it? wont the logo looks a bit clutter and complicated?
No offense at all. Great point Mindsite09! As you can see, we are reaching for straws here and needing some direction. That's what you all are great at. I'll try to refrain from further constrictions and let you do your stuff. Thanks for the input!
Please take no offense at this, but just because something works for 15 years, doesn't mean it's working now. (I refer to the cartoonish quality of the previous) Design can be much more sophisticated, especially with technologies improvement. Bun-Bun (as I call it) can be updated to reflect the times, while still looking modern. It seems the trend is to slap some weird abstract shape onto some type and call it a logo. Great, but how do you stand out in the marketplace? Logos should have as much character as the business it represents. I dont think a glowing soccer ball will help.
Thanks for the feedback (especially kinkywizard). We indeed need to stay focused and the rabbit icon will keep us there. I'd like to present an object to shuffle your creativity.
http://hnatt.com/temp/ball.jpg
What we like about this object (outside of it being a simple ball) is:
-very 3D, makes you want to pick it up
-shiny
-clean: simply white and our product color (blue)
-business (classy)
-unique and memorable
I apologize for not being more specific about the product as this (non-disclosure) was a factor in using Sitepoint.
Can you provide any link where we can check more about you/your business n stuff?
Thank you,
WL
afterall, that rabbit has been served your company well for 15 years :D
suggestion: dont change the rabbit. change or discard the rabbit means we dont have anything to draw except the logo and the mouse (but what's good is the mouse without the main object?), and this also means changing the whole case scenario. If you want to change or discard the rabbit, make sure to think the replacement (not make us to think (like there's thousand animal species out there in the jungle :D). Business abtracts as a replacements (simple shapes) also too wide. Its the rabbit that make it "specific". Yet we still not knowing what kind of business/product you are selling, we can't just put carrot, or rabbit's foot (for instance) as replacements... So far what i can guess, the product is a software, top-selling software, or a rating system.
Update: Thank you all for your work. As we see some of the revisions we wanted to make a few suggestions: Though it is difficult to do with a rabbit, we want the logo to be as 'business' as possible. This usually means more abstract and less "cute". As I discuss this here with our colleagues, we wonder if we might want to discard the rabbit. We aren't sure yet but just letting you know we are becoming more open other ideas. We have had the rabbit for 15 years. Maybe it is time for a change, though we want to somehow tie in our brand recognition and that has been the rabbit over the years. We still lean towards the rabbit just for that reason alone, but are open to your ideas.
wow! interesting!
