Bravo and Congratz. hagios! :). Thanks CH and dudes...Always be success All.
congrats!
Hi All,
I have just now awarded the prize for the best logo design for this contest to design #75 by Hagios.
Was a very close call between that design (and its variants), designs by Samdean (#50, #52, #60, #66, #67 & #68) and Vlad_z9 (#47).
Thanks to all those whom participated.
Was my first foray into 'crowd' based services... and given the positive experience, it certainly wont be the last.
In fact, will hopefully have another project here within the next week or so.
All the best...
DJ.
Hi All designers whom entered this competition.
The competition is now closed and I am now deliberating over which design/designer to chose as the winner.
I can say that my so called 'Top 3' has changed since I posted those comments with 1 day remaining.
Some very good designs were submitted by new entrants (Hagios) and people whom had submitted designs previously (Samdean) amongst others.
I will endeavor to chose the winner by COB today (Monday AEST.)
Thanks...
DJ.
@cd ... i agree, i never said that there was anything wrong with what you did....
thanks illustr8or and marcuss1991!
@tarzan
it is ideal to do what the CH wants. it is impossible to win if one will not follow what the CH wants. also, the elements are the same. everybody uses the elements but done in different styles.
cheers!
@Illustr8or $ Marcus1991:
I really don't know if it was his idea... From my point of view the credit goes to CycloneS's design - #55 was the first that integrated speech bubble, all he did was combine everything CH liked - also made text arrangement similar to helios's #64.
But, who am I to judge...
Great Detail in #83,
nice job CD
@cd what an idea it was, realtime indeed, ni
ce work dude
hope you will still consider the last minute entries..
thanks!
With 1 day remaining, its time to narrow down the excellent submissions so far to the broad styles/themes/colors that I am finding appealing and flag the 'top 3' designs so far (at least in my opinion vs the brief.)
These are in no particular order...
#50. Unique, good use of color and very professional finish. Can see the 'rocket' element (and its tail) being used beyond the search interface.
#55. Like the combination of Green and Orange (non typical) and the 3 core elements of the image (the arrows, the clock and the speech bubble.) Very professional finish. Have suggested better implementation of the 3 key elements.
#46. Again, good use of color and a very professional execution. More work to be done on the font... and font usage. Clock 'element' is strong and could become quite iconic. Am assuming this logo is alluding to a 'Q' (Question) and a clock (time). Excellent.
Worthy mentions...
#49 and #52. Really like the look of these 2 and the very professional finish. Too strong a reference to the 'Twitterverse' for a search engine that will be drawing from more than the Twitter space.
#18. Great looking logo, not sure on relevance to brief.
#13. A very professional and visually appealing logo and concept. Loses points for not being an 'obvious' association with 'Real Time' and 'Search'.
#33. Some great ideas in this logo (and in #32.) Don't wont a logo though with a magnifying glass in it.
With a little over 2 days to go before the close of this competition, I thought I would provide some general comments as to what is and isn't working so far (in my opinion)... and also some specific comments on several entries.
- Most entries are professional looking.
- Many entries have focused too heavily on 'Search'... specifically on ideas that have been associated with 'Search' since the late 90's (Binoculars, Magnifying Glasses etc...)
- Many entries have used a 'Clock' to show 'Real Time'. While this is technically appropriate, a clock alone isn't enough. Need to focus on what 'Real Time Search' means for users... as opposed to simply representing the literal meaning of the term.
- In the main, better use of color and a sense of 'fun' required.
- As we will be searching initially using the Twitter API... would like something that feels like it is from that universe/space. (I don't want a copy or anything that too closely resembles other logo's in the 'Twittersphere'... but I do like the sense of fun and warmth that most sites in the space tend to have.)
Have had a few designs now that are using the magnifying glass (#4, #9, #10). While kinda appropriate, this particular theme was done to death on 'traditional' search engines developed during the late 90's.
#1, #2, #3. Nice design. A little too IT for my liking. Preference for something more 2.0... fun.
As we will be searching initially using the Twitter API... would like something that feels like it is from that universe/space.
To be perfectly clear I don't want a copy or anything that too closely resembles other logo's in the 'Twittersphere'... but I do like the sense of fun and warmth that most sites in the space tend to have.
Will update design brief to clarify.
