This third-party excuse is way too common. So many contests fall apart because of this middleman thing.

No, I think what happened here is that the client was not the contest holder, the contest holder was the middleman and this middleman decided to use the designers on this site to provide options for the client but was not altogether serious about following through. In other situations, on other sites, when they decide to use their own design, the contest holder, in most cases, will award the prize money to their favorite design anyway, its just the right thing to do. Deposits are a good idea.

My suggestion would be to monitor the website to see if they used any of your designs,
if they do SUE THE HELL OUT OF THEM.

Wow. This trend needs to stop. I am in two other recent contests that have not provided any feedback. they will probably end to. It is such a waste of time to sit at the computer making stuff for people like this. Luckily i have nothing better to do but to make stuff for abandoned contests all week long. I guess i need to wait until the final day or so to make things and watch for feedback on the contests. Its a no win situation tho. If you wait you cant get out your best logo because there is no time to talk to the contest holder and make changes. If you jump in early, you risk this. I still think that if the client is serious there should be a deposit made. Maybe half the prize money and make it so it is not refundable. Then they will think twice before enetering a contest that they have no intention of following through with.

Sorry for the rant but i have been quiet for awhile and this one just sent me over the edge. Thanks for nothing. I will make sure not to enter your contests again and will add your name to the list of bad contests holders.
