Wow. After reading this emotional roller coaster ride of a thread, I am very happy to hear that the ch chose a designer to work with in the end. Congrats to the winner and thank you to the contest holder for handling the situation in a professional manner.

Ever actually WON the contest?!?
What's your point? Yes I did win a few, but -this may be surprising for you- I really do not care to win or not.
Congrats xpoint9...you deserve it.
Congrats Xpoint9!
thank you guys and thank you Jerakoo.
Congrats xpoint9.
Well done jerakoo!! Congrats Xpoint9!
Thought I just might say:
chunli500 - I agree!
The logo design challenge has now come to an end. Unfortunately we did not find an entry that we could declare as the definitive winner, a logo which we could use in our marketing to represent us and our identity. We take the design of our logo concept very seriously because we understand how important it is and the effect it has in bonding with consumers. After all these entries, one may say we are very selective or choosy, and we would say yes you are right. We have strict standards in conducting our business and that is what we want to reflect in our company logo.
That is not to say that there isn't any talented designers here, there certainly are, and there are some entries which look good and are put together well, but ultimately it has to fit with our existing designs and our unique styling for the industry that we are in. That is why we gave feedback on many designs as being too cartoonish, ..that means while it may look good on its own or for another type of company, if you were to present that to say the BBC or CNN for their logo style, they would kick you out of the door because no one would take them seriously with a logo that didn't represent the nature of their industry. The services we provide are serious business and we are trusted for providing information and conducting ourselves in a just manner. We don't want to jeopardize that.
Having considered the entries, while we couldn't pick one exact logo to wave as our flag, we acknowledge the valuable contributions made by all the designers, and there were a particular few who stood out from the rest. We considered many options such as a final mini-design-showdown, but in the end we decided that overall, we were most impressed with Xpoint9's graphic design skills and his creativity and ability. His style seemed to jive with us well and we trust his tastes in general, and so after asking his permission, we have agreed to work together in the background to finalize a logo for our company using his graphic styling skills. Therefore Xpoint9 is now the official logo design challenge winner and takes home the prize.
We would also like to say thanks again to everyone else for their submissions, they are very much appreciated and are a valuable contribution to the overall logo design challenge. We wish you the best with your future endeavors and where life takes you.
Thanks and peace out.
to be honest i don't think u meant to award the prize to xpoint. it was only down to pressure from us. shame
Congrats XPOINT9 after the work you put into this contest you certainly deserve it whether your designs end up being used or not
@popcorn
YOU ARE SOOOOO RIGHT! :)
Now, CONGRATULATIONS XPOINT9
@glenngould
Ever actually WON the contest?!?
glenngould, I agree in principle with all the things you say in your post, the thing that seems to make this contest stand out is the feedback, it has felt to many that winning is going to be an impossible task, to be told after your hard work it does not fit in with our current design is just ridiculous when you are not making that design available to the entrants.
I wish no ill feeling the CH, and hope his business goes from strength to strength, but I do feel that many peoples time has been wasted by trying to achieve the impossible.
whoa!!! xpoint are you actually getting the full prize amount. @the ch....if you are paying Xpoint...I think you made a respectable decission.
I wish I could win this one but I do not agree with those acussing the CH for not selecting a winner and paying.
CH has rights not to declare a winner according to the SP contest guidelines, and there is no meaning to pick a runner up etc. Think, who would hold a contest "in a PUBLIC forum", if there is an obligation for paying in the end or some percentage in advance.
I'm sorry but this is how contests work and as you would know, many designers disagree with the whole idea of design contests (I'm not one of them though).
I would recommend not to design for contests, to those who think it is pointless to work without being sure to be paid. Otherwise enter into contests with regard of this risk. If you think too many revisions are requested, just stop submitting revisions.
My personal opinion about the entries is; there is no submission worth the contest prize, among 500+ designs. If I were the CH I wouldn't pick a winner either, but the CH should also know that he has to pay some thousands of dollars to get that logo which fits his needs, to a corporate design agency.
1. CH HAVES to pay 20-30% of first prize money if contest is closed (contest of 150$ would be 45$ - and that is nothing compared to wasted time but at least something...);
This would dramatically decrease the average prize for contests in my opinion.
Unless SP decides to pick a design team for contests and close them to public (I would disagree such an idea though), there is nothing to do about contests with no winners.
My conclusion is that try getting used to such things or simply do not enter. This is how public contests work.
Regards.
