Design brief

Brief Summary

We are a recent start-up and university spin-off that is already an industry leader in the fields of face detection, tracking, and recognition. We are in the midst of a major website rewrite and are looking for a new web logo and header to help set the tone for the look & feel of the new site.

Brand Name

Pittsburgh Pattern Recognition (or PittPatt)

Description

Our company tracks, and recognizes faces in digital video and images. Here is our current website for ideas about what we do: http://pittpatt.com. You can even play with our online (image-only) demo if you want: http://demo.pittpatt.com

We are not wed to any of the design choices of our current website (colors, branding, everything is fair game so be creative). You can feel free to adopt and play with any of the current elements but we are very open to new ideas.

We have three primary requirements. We want a logo in SVG format. We want an additional website header with both the logo and the company name/branding. We want the logo to look good down to 16x16 (favicon size).

We plan to offer constant feedback to all participants and we will award a prize even if we do not decide to use the winning logo.

Feel free to: change the colors, capitalize as you like, and shorten the company name to pittpatt.

Update 1: I've added a "dislike" to include "crosshair" logos.

Update 2: We seem to be preferring entries with the logo to the left of the company text (or possibly to the right?)

Update 3: Some things that have come out of our meetings are we'd prefer the simpler and elegant designs over the more complciated ones

Wants
  • Distinct, modern logo in SVG format
  • Looks good down to favicon size
  • Additional website header with logo + company name
  • Logo to the left (or maybe right) of the company text
  • We seem to favor simple and elegant designs over highly complex ones
Don't Wants
  • Ugliness?
  • Crosshair-like logos
  • Logos above/below the company text have fallen somewhat out of favor
  • Eyeballs
  • Anything that looks like a terminator :)
