There are a couple of good ideas/first entries here. I like the colors, font, and all round clean and professional look that 7stripes used. The entry from Yosuke has a nice perspective with the stars and stripes.
I am actively watching this contest. If I can answer any questions that would encourage more entries, please let me know.
I don't think I want to incorporate the tag line that I mentioned. I think if I use one, it will be outside of the logo...just doesn't seem like it fits in too well.
