Design brief
We ran this competition a few months ago. We were pleased with the results, but since then, our startup's goals have changed.
Below in the requirements, we state specifically what we need delivered to us. Specifically, we need a logo or brandmark that can be 16x16 and be recognizable/readable.
The idea of our site is that we list your favorites. Your favorite links, videos, etc. We pull them from Facebook and Twitter, and allow you to favorite links with our Favorite button on websites or browser extension.

OUR OLD LOGO:
We have no ties to our old logo. We liked it at the time, and still like it — but the logomark doesn’t work as a 16×16 icon, and that is the most important thing to MyFavorites.com.
OUR LOGO MARK:
We are thinking of a star — but stars looks so generic; ours needs to be brandable to MyFavorites.com. Unique. We are also open to a heart. But the star or heart needs to be brandable, original, and authentic to us. Another possibility, which we think is likely impossible — is the use of the word ‘my’ over/in a star or heart.
COLOR SCHEME:
We like our old color scheme, but are open to a new color scheme. Notice that Facebook uses a dark blue, Twitter a light/playful blue… we plan to use a blue as well. Currently we are using hex value #0t06bb0 for Blue and we like this shade. Our secondary color we plan to be a yellow/gold or orange — likely for our star. Currently we are using hex value #e46713 which we’re not married to.
SOME IDEAS:
A star with a smiley face in it. This kind of smiley: =)
A smiley face might be too cheezy, so of course designs without smileys.
When we mention a heart, we like the heart that can be found on www.hypem.com or www.thingd.com [click ‘browse’ on left side, then you’ll get into the site]. But once again, we need a heart that is brandable to us, not generic.
Design comps on white! No fades!
1) Logo mark. (similar to Twitter.com’s bird icon. similar to Facebook’s ‘f’ icon, or their ‘like’ thumbs up icon)
2) Word mark. (similar to Twitter.com’s word logo of simply ‘twitter.com’. Similar to Facebook’s “facebook” word — the colors/borders)
3) Icons (PNG format w/transparency)
3a) 16×16 favicon [similar in gradient complexity/smoothness as Twitter.com and Facebook.com; likely hand-done upon selection of our primary logo design, rather than scaled down] 3b) 48×48 [used as the icon in Google Chrome, as an extension] 3c) 128×128 [used in Google Chrome download store]
4) “Favorite” button (similar in simplicity to Facebook’s “Like” button; but brandable as our own)
50-60px wide, 20px high. (The width can be more, but height must be 20px exactly)
— Use case: This will be used on Publisher websites (blogs like www.techcrunch.com).

5) “Favorite” button with horizontal # of favorites that exist (similar to the ones in the attached screenshot). This is the #4 button above, but with a comment box that shows the # of other people that have favorited the item.
