I hear ya - Thats the exact reason why I only spend an hour on the designs to.
The clients get a good deal on their end. Last time I'll submit an entry - good luck to the designers, who spent time on the designs.
really? fair enough, I'll wait and see then. TO be fair I only did a quick 1 hour job on this and was half asleep asleep at the time so obviously not going to get anywhere with it, but it's not about me. The cumulative hours put into these 'contests' by people must be running into the 100's and for people not to follow through is terrible.
I hope the site puts in MUCH stronger regulations, like a 50% deposit from the contest runners so that if they don't pay then at least the user with the highest rating gets some payment. I always thought t would be too easy for people to just free ideas, and apparently I was right!
Any way good luck to everyone in this contest, I'll take your word that it will go through to completion.
@crezo. I here what you are saying mate. Some contests are very hit and miss.
......It is all about getting a feel for the brief/CH and the each individual contest and wether you choose to enter or not.
With regards this one.....benvolio (CH) is actually far and away one of the best CH on sitepoint. Having won a previous contest of his he paid promptly and was extremely professional. I believe he runs an agency and therefore has to get feedback from others before choosing. Sometimes it can take a while but I assure you he will pick a winner!

Of the 2 contests I've entered so far, one's not been followed up and th other one has been canceled!! This site seems like a massive con to me, if these had been done at work people would be getting letters from our solicitors by now!

I also like the microsoft changing logo idea. what do you think that could happen if they would held a contest like that here? woah?! it could worth millions don't you think? I mean it should be. right? why don't you try to invite them to do that since you're one of the best here?

hey there guys - an update to the brief... probably should have mentioned this earlier ad should have been part of the original brief... but the business is run by a woman and she wants a female touch. the closes one to that at the moment is - http://99designs.com/contests/5730/…ies/373446 - so think feminine in your icons and typeface.
