Notes

The font can be either Serif or San Serif, it doesn't have to be a straight font logo please feel free to connect letters or make other florishes as long as the logo stays simple, elegant and classic. It should look like you have seen it a thousand times before when you look at it once. I have a beta site launched at http://www.ver-ge.com if you want to check out the vibe of what it will look like. Keep in mind the logo will be used like a regular magazine logo as we will be doing "digital" magazine covers on the site that will look like a normal magazine cover. Therefore the logo will have to work even when it is partially obstructed by a person's head in a photo. It would be a bonus if the font used was similar or matched a Google Web Font or another web font service. If you are doing a san-serif font I don't think rounded edges will work, I am looking for something crisp and sharp. I will look at rounded edges if you think you have created something extra special but do that as the throw it out there version not the main focus.

If you are going to highlight any letter in the word it needs to be the V, highlighting the G or other letters make no sense and aren't logical for the design.

I posted a jpeg for a cover mockup in the design brief to use as another way to see what the logo looks like on a different cover. Design #157 used it.

So everyone knows, the logo will have to work as both the website header and the magazine title, so to make this easier if you want to submit them both at once that would help. It is much harder to make it work as a magazine cover so I would defintely favor submitting that over the website if you are going to pick one.

I just added the GQ logo and the Esquire logo to the sample logos section of the design brief. There are so many san-serif and serif font word logos competeing now it would be nice to see something in the vein of these added logos. Let's mix it up and see what else you can come up with that will be striking, simple, classic and powerful.

As you can see I like #29 and #30. If you want to compete please try to do something original and not too similar to these designs. The only way I will want something similar now is if it totally blows these others away. Now I want different designs to compete with these. Try different directions and thanks for submitting!

Do not go too modern, I cannot use a futuristic looking logo, it must look classic.
