CloseDesign brief
Green Around the Globe is a website that will document the efforts of Keith and Amy Sutter as they travel the world discovering what sustainability efforts are being adopted by consumers, governments and regulators while documenting the environmental and business results.
Keith and Amy are both professionals (marketer and attorney) and have aspects of sustainability in their current positions. Amy is a real estate attorney and is a LEED AP, while Keith markets brands and products sold at retailers like Whole Foods and Wal-Mart, both of which have significant focus on sustainability. They are looking to use this trip, and by extension this website, as a catalyst to enhance their careers and firsthand knowledge and expertise on sustainability. Check out the site to see the initial posts and an initial attempt at a logo, www.greenaroundtheglobe.com. The positives from the current logo are the font (approachable but a little hard to read when it is small), the circle (supposed to represent the globe) and the lines indicating motion/travel.
Green Around The Globe
We have two targets for the site. The first is that of people interested in travel, especially extended global travel. These people subscribe and regularly read sites like http://everything-everywhere.com and www.twoguysaroundtheworld.com. They dream of being able to quit their jobs and travel the world, but instead of doing it they read sites like ours as a way to live vicariously through others.
The second target is people that are interested in sustainability and the business opportunities that exist in tackling tough global environmental issues and challenges like climate change, green building and access to clean water. This could be from a personal perspective as well as a professional interest. These people often read sites like: http://www.sustainablelifemedia.com or http://greenbiz.com. Our goal is to use this site and our experience to secure careers in the sustainability sector when we return to the states, so the site will serve as a pseudo-resume for potential future employers.
• A successful design will speak to both of our two targets through a simple, ownable logo.
• Logo will be used on website, business cards and other printed materials
• Needs to work in color and black and white
• Vector file for easy editing
• Easily translated to 16x16 pixel favicon for browsers
• Able to incorporate tagline of “Discovering Sustainability Worldwide” this is not mandatory on every use as the design should stand on it’s own.
